I enjoyed a gin and a cider here. My husband enjoyed the beers. There were too many young children climbing around to relax properly, hence the 4 stars. It's a really nice place, though, if you're ok with kids.Kid-friendliness: There were lots. It was the worst part.

Great pub for beer lovers. Usually 4 on cask and a range of keg beers. Highly recommend a pint of openchopps only £3.50 a pint.
Martin Bailey
Great place, rotating beers and lovely atmosphere

Microbreweries seem to be popping up in the UK now, which are a welcome change from the major distributor owned pubs all serving the same beers. Northern Whisper offered a nice selection and is in a a great little town where a few places can be sampled within a short walk. I'd give it a 5 if I'd sampled a few more selections, and the staff could have described a bit more about what they had on tap. Nobody is going to ask a barkeep to describe a Thwaites Original Ale, but in microbreweries or bars focusing on small local brewers, such insights are expected. I will certainly stop in more often the next time across the pond.

Lovely place for a drink. Great real ale. Please support it! Would like to have stopped longer to get merry. Good luck.

Great place to have a quiet pint and a chat, good beers and a good choice with plenty to choose from their own brewery. My wife loves shake a leg and yet not a beer fan,so there is something for everyone . No food served.Kid-friendliness: They allow children in

I'm a big fan of the NW bar in Rawtenstall, but our experience here didn't live up to expectations. At 10pm on a Saturday night I expected at least a bit of life, but the place was joyless. The staff were disinterested and seemed keen to close up early so that they could get home. Like them, I won't be looking forward to a return.
Nice bar in Ramsbottom, choice of ales and various other drinks. Basic bar area, but matches the theme.Worth a visit.

Sparse, uncomfortable seating, although to be fair it is more of a drinking establishment rather than cosy pub. Great price on Wednesday's, £2.00 a pint for cask ale and the barmaid was very friendly.
