After being served a burnt chicken burger and asking nicely for the burger to be re made the manager then brought the burger back and said this is how it is served! Then said do we want a different item walked off and never came back to the table to follow up! Rude service and food standards shocking

This visit was to catch up with friends who we hadn’t seen for a while due to their move to Yorkshire. Three ordered the traditional breakfast another a sausage sandwich. Coffees and a Guinness was our choice of beverages. Service excellent, food cooked perfectly. A good atmosphere and spotlessly clean. Will be retuning to this gem which is better than what the local Wetherspoons Picture House and the nearby The Trackside pub on every level.

We’ve moved to Southport but came back to Bury when our van needed some work done. We went into the Robert Peel to pass some time. We had a regular breakfast each which was hot and delicious! I’ve never tried a breakfast here before but definitely give it 10/10! Staff were lovely, seemed happy in their work and were very friendly. Will definitely go again

Often go here for a very good value lunch. Never disappointed even when it's very busy on market days.

Went August Bank Holiday Monday , yes I appreciate a very busy day in Bury BUT customer service needs an overhaul… ordered food on the app , some couldn’t be ordered as they had run out I presume. So we ordered 2 burgers that were still on the app . It took our money then 5 minutes later a female member of staff came over and informed us that they had no beef burgers , we could have chicken . I asked why it had took our money ,she didn’t really know .. Asked if we could order something else and pay extra she wasn’t sure and would have to ask . Asked for refund which she said would take 4 days , she disappeared and didn’t even return to tell us refund was done or apologise at all !! I had to go to the bar and ask her . Ridiculous customer service . Won’t return. Tables dirty , nothing cleaned . Don’t bother going !!!

Very disappointed with the service tonight But I don't think the management are really bothered customers With many bars closing by the week You can understand why, because they don't really want to serve customer, on the Web site and on the door that they close at 11 but we had brought a round of drinks but then asked to drink up because they was closing early So don't give them your hard earned money go to a bar that really appreciates your custom

Although the food was lovely we felt very let down as people sat behind us were openly vaping. When our food was delivered and we mentioned this. We were told you could vape in that area. We were on table 42. As far as I am aware it is illegal to smoke or vape inside. Needless to say we will not return.

Still shows on some web sites as a \\\"Spoonies\\\" but is not one of their chain anymore. Still keeps some of the same principles, decent beer and food at sensible prices. Popped in for late breakfast, food was standard pub fare, did seem to take a while hence the 4 stars overall but certainly nothing to make me think I won't be going there again.

Treated my teenage son to a meal at the same time as wishing to compare the experience with its previous incarnation as part of the UK's largest chain. Value for money wise it certainly competes very well and having adopted a system allowing orders to be placed at the table it is a welcome bonus. The portion sizes were better than elsewhere and the food was served hot albeit a little slower than expected as the place wasn't particularly busy for a Thursday evening at 6pm. My son has a voracious appetite so I was surprised to see him leave over half of his Margherita pizza and not finish his chips. I took a slice of his ample sized pizza for myself and then understood why he was unable to eat any more - the cheese was so generously applied that it was sickly in the extreme. I should have complained but no one came to enquire how our meal was and I decided to put it down to experience even though I can ill afford to dine out let alone waste food when I do so. My own meal was fine and, as I've said, good value. My final point would be the advertised free drinks with certain meals on certain days when; for example a £7 Margherita becomes £8.95 with a free drink!

I went a few weeks ago with my son, hoping for a not-too-expensive lunch. I wondered what it was like now it's no longer a Weatherspoons and was pleased to find it hugely improved. The decor was all much fresher. Gone was that "sticky" feeling and the atmosphere was relaxed with background music from, around the 1980's mainly - audible but you could comfortably have conversations without distraction. Lunch then was certainly fine for the price but I felt a little plain for a burger - lacking in the salad that normally convinces you you're eating something a bit healthier than you know it actually is. But the food and drink was well priced. A pint of beer was about half the price it is in my local, making for a very affordable four star experience and prompting me to return today with two other people. Today, we were all very pleased by the prompt service. No fancy, no fuss but everything was certainly in order. All the food was very good. Better than the "it's fine" of the previous time. Curry with decent chunks of chicken and enough naan, rice and poppadoms and chutney to satisfy most hungry blokes I'd reckon. All at a good temperature, brought quickly to the table. Today, I'd nudge up to a five stars as this becomes my number one place for a truly affordable and decent pub lunch - I rarely write online reviews but I thought this was worthy of a reiview that reflected the effort and inverstment that's transformed The Robert Peel.
