Wow … what a great night at The Sportsman, Hyde. Thanks to our host, Belen Romero, for welcoming 16 members of our group and providing a fabulous selection of her renowned tapas dishes for us to sample.We were treated to 11 courses (some suitable for vegans), with ice cream to finish, for those who still had room.After a starter of bruschetta, we were served potato topped with cheese, potato bravas and spicy meatballs (which are very spicy). A lovely mushroom dish in rich, creamy garlic sauce, was followed by barbecued spare ribs and a potato mash ball in breadcrumbs. Black rice with a lentil sauce, then cod goujons with a mayonnaise dip.The bar serves a range of real ales, with the excellent Glen Top being one of the options.The tapas is available Wednesday to Saturday, with 3 dishes and a glass of wine costing just £15.Belen and her team provide superb, friendly service and would love more people to discover this excellent dining experience.

Organised for 25 people to have a meal for a 75th Birthday. Belen was a fantastic host, her food was delicious and her staff were lovely. She joined in on singing Happy Birthday and made everyone feel welcome. Definitely recommend here for parties or just a meal out..

The sportsman as seating inside and outside. Hard alcohol is sold here. The tapas menu is extensive, but the spicy meat balls and barbecue ribs cannot be beaten anywhere I ve been, abroad or here. The staff are friendly and professional. Parking is not a problem, but it is the car park for morrisons so times maybe a problem. I will keep going back if it's only for the tapas. There are plenty of ales on sale at very competitive prices. And a coal fire welcomes all visitors. Visited this public house many times. Staff friendly. Still a number of ales on sale. I have been here many times, the tapas is still the best around and the portions on most foods are huge. The staff are friendly and helpful, parking is a problem. Entrance is for all people. Prices are hugely competitive on alcohol and food.
