Our first visit to The Bowling Green.We entered via a door from the car park, which by the way is quite a large car park with a big beer garden.The waitress quickly identified that we had never been before and explained how to order and where to order, etc.Drinks are ordered and paid for separately at the bar.Food is ordered and paid for at a till away from the bar. I think this is a good idea.We ordered 2 x The Bowling Green Special Baguette that came with chips and a side salad. It's was very tasty indeed.I had a glass of house red wine, which was good.We shared a dessert of Apple Caramel Cobbler with custard. This was also very nice. My partner would have preferred the custard separate from the cobbler so she could decide how much custard to put on. Perhaps she should have asked for them to be separate when she ordered.To finish off my meal, I had a Cappuccino. It came with plenty of chocolate on top, just how I like it.Our bill came to £36.60.The place was very clean and tidy.The staff were very friendly and helpful.As soon as the tables had been vacated, staff immediately cleaned them (sprayed then wiped down and reset for the next customers).

The food was superb. We had a family meal for a birthday. The food was piping hot and delivered to the table in a timely manner. The menu was good value for money. 6 main meals and a starter for £91 The service was superb and the waiteress' couldn't help enough in terms of our party and their food allergies. Would highly recommend the proffesionalism of our hosts, Claudia and Emily were brilliant and made our trip out super enjoyable. We will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I love going to the bowling green for some tea. Usually it’s a nice night, however this one night was diabolical. Restaurant was half empty but we was squeezed in between two tables of four, both tables were extremely loud and inconsiderate parties. We were only a table of two, there was many other places we could’ve been seated. Waitress (young, blonde) had a face like a slapped bottom! When we went up to order, i asked a simple question of if a certain item was cooked in the sauce or it came separately, she rolled her eyes and went into the kitchen to ask someone. The door was still open and I could hear the attitude coming from her which is obviously upsetting when it was a simple question. She then refused to serve us and someone else stepped in who was a great help (brunette, often see her in there). Food has always been lovely, broccoli could be done a little more but that’s the only thing i’ve ever noticed, compliments to the chef there. Throughout the whole time of eating, the two parties were still being extremely loud, squeezing out the tight spaces constantly which meant knocking our table, someone’s scarf went into a near empty bowl of soup, staring over at us for taking away the table they were using to put there bags, phones, etc on. When in fact, it was small enough to fit in a dolls house.
