I have rated 5* purely and solely on the staff that work here. My stay was in a large room with 2 double beds, 1 chair with a glass circular table with 4 bottles of water with glasses, 1 writing table/tea, coffee, milk, sugar, biscuits plus kettle and courtesy in hotel phone, 1 key / information table. The room was very spacious but it lacked that "comfy" feeling - maybe, possibly a sofa and 2 chairs for seating instead. The bed mattress was SO comfy but the practicality of the beds not so , the bed next to the built in wardrobe / safe is so close to the bed in that when you opened the door there was no room for movement in between the door and the bed if the bed was occupied, the bed also had no side table, no night light, no reading light because of the door opening. The other double bed was positioned right up against and directly under the corner window making the only way to leave the bed would be to shuffle down to the bottom or climb over the "sleeping" person next door and also no night light, no reading light on that side. The only convenient bed table was in between the 2 double beds which also housed the only night lights and reading lights. Entering the restaurant for breakfast was a wait to be checked in and seated as there was no one to greet us , I would have thought a "greeter" would be a lovely welcome and a distraction whilst waiting for a member of staff to seat us. It is amazing how polite conversation is a distraction from waiting. On leaving the hotel although I found the automatic opening doors very, very helpful with bags , suitcases and business packages, I was missing that "personal touch" of a doorman to help carry my bags and the polite conversation one has on leaving and entering your hotel, it would be like "welcome, come on in" and "have a good journey, hopefully see you soon" I know all the above would cost money but from a person who has stayed at the Hotel I think it would be a very wise investment. There are other improvements too Lift operator Bell boys to carry your luggage

Fabulous hotel in great location. We stayed in a Superior King and it was really spacious, great shower and with a great view of the canal. Staff were really friendly and we have to give a special mention to Liz who greeted us with a smile and friendly welcome each morning at breakfast and to Harry who looked after us at breakfast- outstanding customer service. We had a really great stay and will definitely be back!

This was our last stop on an 3 week trip through the UK. The hotel was exceptional, rooms were well-appointed, and modern. The lounge and restaurant was lovely, our waiter Kamal (who waited on us all evening) was wonderful, and deserves a shoutout! Thank you Kamal!

Well the hotel is full of character and is perfectly located. All staff we had dealings with were so kind, professional and helpful. Special mention to Mel on reception she was a superstar from my first phone call the day before our arrival to the requests in the evening for forgotten items and a issue that she dealt with in a way I was more than happy with. Thanks for that. We stayed here as a family group as it was for the night before and night out me and my now husbands wedding so there was a lot of consideration to this with the rooms we were allocated. That was great, thanks. Another huge thank you to the lady that did our room service early morning on the wedding day. I am sorry I can’t remember your name but you really did start my day off perfectly. A truly lovely lady. So thanks for a great stay. We will be staying again in the future.

Two of us stayed for four nights in September 2023 and were very satisfied. The rooms were good with the one caveat [increasingly common in hotels unfortunately] that the window could not be opened to let in fresh air. I resorted to propping my door open to let in fresh air from the corridor where a window was open, but this was not allowed at night for security reasons. The breakfast experience was faultless - plenty of choice, friendly service, and also plenty of room to sit. We did not eat dinner at the hotel, but had a drink each evening which was also very pleasant. Not too sure why there are so many television screens in the bar area - you could avoid these by sitting on the terrace area, but still heard the football commentary in the evenings. Thank you.

Me and my husband stayed here for one night. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely friendly lady. Our room was spotlessly clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. We went out for food but when we arrived back in the evening we went into the bar for drinks the lady that served us was also friendly and asked about our evening. In the morning we had breakfast there was lots of choice, cold and hot food, tea, coffee, juice. The food was spot on, again all the staff we encountered at breakfast were friendly and efficient. Couldn’t fault the hotel at all. We will definitely stay here again.

Very disappointed. We like the hotel very much, but that's it. We should have prosecco on arrival waiting for us in the room, but we didn't so my friend went down to ask at the front desk, the were very sorry she was informed it would be delivered soon. After a while, receptionist called the room asking if there for sure wasn't a bottle of prosecco in the room, he was informed that no and he said they will bring it. After a while, concierge came who asked again if there was no prosecco in the room, saying he had left it for sure, I even offered him that he could check the room because he was looking around for a bottle. After another 20 minutes, the receptionist called again and said that staff said that the bottle was there but they would bring the second one anyway, he was very, annoyed. We waited 2 hours and the prosecco was not delivered at all, so we left for dinner. We came back at night next day, at the reception everyone pretended that nothing had happened. They made us feel very bad, treated us like liars.

Great 1 night stay. Room was lovely! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice, buffet style. Good location, nice view of the river. Close to the centre with plenty of bars and things to do within walking distance. The car park is very small but we managed to get in.

Really good food but on the pricey side, but there was a promotion on when we went for steak & fries and a glass of wine for £15 which we snapped up. Staff are super attentive with lots of checking in to see if we needed anything. Didn't look to be too busy when we went around 7pm. Would definitely visit again next time we are nearby.

I haven’t even stayed at the hotel yet but need to give a massive “thank you” to Natalie on the front desk who was so helpful when I needed to make a change to my booking. Natalie went out of her way to help me when she didn’t have to, and I am so grateful. Thank you Natalie and see you in November!

Good all-around food. A nice selection of draft beers on tap.

Great ambiance, friendly staff & delicious curry! One of the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!
