This is the midland restaurant and bar which is used in the morning for the hotel guests breakfast. We stayed for a night which included a three course evening meal. I booked this because we stayed a few weeks ago - but without the meal and enjoyed the hotel - so we were looking forward to it.Sadly the menu for such a plush hotel was very poor. Bangers and mash, burgers and fishcake was the choice of mains. The taste of the food was average. Burgers were stunning looking but dry. My starter of breaded mushrooms was nice but the chocolate brownie horribly dry. I noticed they had given us a different menu than other guests, probably because we bought the package. This in itself isn't a problem if the choice was a bit more interesting let's say. Plus the three course meal was £150 more than the bed and breakfast we had done a few weeks earlier. If you wanted a steak it was another £8.00 on top of the £150 already paid! The service was awful. Had to wait and wait for each course to be cleared and after yet another wait my wife had to go and ask where our desserts were. When we eventually got up to leave nobody seemed to know where they had put our coats and to top it all they insisted on us paying for our drinks despite the fact we were staying on a bed, breakfast and evening meal basis.Front of house staff were fantastic and said they would reimburse us for the meals. It hasn't gone in my bank yet but they did say it can take ten days.

Nice food but the service is shockingly slow. Asked for water for the table twice but still nothing. No one has asked if I would like another drink and I’ve waited an hour and ten mins and only a cold starter has come out. It’s medium busy and I won’t be coming

We attended the Mount Street Social which runs, in the main dining room, on a Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 5pm. There is a wide variety of food on the menu, but the best part, it is a ‘sharing’ experience so you don’t have to choose. You get to try all the starters, mains and desserts. The food was excellent quality, freshly made and delicious! There was plenty of it as well. We had a drinks package for our table which allows you 6 drinks from the menu including cocktails, beers, wines and spirits. This is excellent value for money. The staff were, without exception, very friendly, professional and extremely attentive. The icing on the cake is that you get entertained by a fantastic band as well for the afternoon. Overall this is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Made a reservation in August 2023 for January 2024, for a 70t celebration. Venue cancelled our reservation for 15 with only two weeks to go, with a shoddy reason of ‘we’ve decided to close in January and reopen at the end of January’. Only compensation given was a glass of Prosecco on arrival and a move the the ‘lounge’ inside the hotel. This offered a very limited menu. Highly disappointed, used to be a family favourite, will not be retuning for future family occasions after this, sloppy customer service and inconvenience.

We booked for christmas day our serving was at 3.30.Our overall bill was £1100.00 £130.00 per head. The service was sloppy ,the main course lukewarm, parsnips burnt ,turkey rolled and hard and roast potatoes looked like they had been reheated. The baked aslaka christmas pudding dessert choosen by 6 ,all had to be returned. The christmas pudding base was frozen .Coffee and mince pies weren't served and after asking for them twice . The cups came without saucers and tea spoons dumped in the middle of the table. It took over 35 minutes fir drinks to be served.I really disappointing experience. We shared our experience with the manager ,who accepted the service was poor as they were under pressure and advised that other diners had returned desserts too. She offer a discount to try and recover the situation. It definitely wasn't a 4 star experience. Really disappointing

Quite draughty as is so large, not great ambience. Went for romantic meal , but bright lights on no candles etc.Not a big choice of soup, just one...pea and watercress which wasn't the best. Snacks of Olives, which were lovely and sourdough bread only complaint was the frozen butter.Had a ribeye and hubby the sirloin, cooked to perfection, don't get why you have to buy sides if its a mains.?Ordered 2 portions fries and a bottle of red wine.Good food good server's, just very slow coming out of kitchen. Not cheap paid £173.

There was a great choice of breakfast menu available which was cooked very well. The staff in this restaurant are excellent and made our recent couple of visits very pleasurable, especially Elisabete and Vilma who both went the extra mile to make us feel very welcome and comfortable making for a great experience.

Fantastic breakfast choice. The staff Bev, Tilly and Elisabete go out of their way to make you comfortable and very friendly. The pancake /waffle/ omlet man is so fun as well!

Popped in for breakfast. Fantastic interior: 13-lamp ceiling light fixtures, golden leaf wall fixtures, rhombic floor tiles, marble tables.Great service - the server brought me their continental breakfast which was amazing. Greek yogurt with all sorts of fruit including ??????????. She also brought a doggy bag for copious amounts of fresh pastry.UPD. Today, again at breakfast, I had a truly 6* experience. Was served by ????????? who made it 100% personal. I've never had servants, but from classical literature, this is how a gentleman should feel when being served by his manservant. No unnecessary movements, and always with a good suggestion. Devoured copious amounts of toast, salami, smoked salmon, coffee, yogurt, delicious raspberry confiture, and fruit. It's 6 p.m. now, and I'm still not hungry!Don't know ?????? ?????, just them one Turing. Will be back tomorrow!Their Villeroy & Boch cutlery is the best steel cutlery in the world.Who needs Paris?

We had dinner Friday evening no atmosphere, staff were really not interested and most of the time there were no staff in the dining room. Food was good but annoyingly our mains were served whilst still eating starters and no apology. Felt rushed. Very very disappointing won't be returning BUT special shout to sommelier/mixologist who was so knowledgeable and enthiastic he's the only reason I gave you a star for customer service

Over priced basic menu but food was lovely. Not impressed with the 15% service charge either and why does a steak only come out as a steak you have to pay extra for veg/chips/sauce ??‍♀️

Food and atmosphere was quite nice, I really liked the experience overall. Only think I didn't like is that on the receipt there was 12% service charge that was not on the menu: the set menu was £40 and drink set menu was £35 so receipt should have only that. This service charge is like a

The menu has no prices on and the meal was just either a steak or chicken. It doesn't come with chips or vegetables, sauce. You wreck a night out! When I make a meal at home I just don't do one item! My meals included vegetables and sauce, that is a standard meal! These Dick Turpin people charged extra for the chips and sauce, but does not come with any vegetables, just one flat tomato! Miller and Carter do a better course meal including vegetables, sauce and worth the money. They charge each of our party a 12% service charge that was not on the menu, yet it was one party one bill, which was split!! Then after we paid, told us the service charge is optional, but didn't refund the money back! I feel like we had been robbed and asking for a drink taken ages! The people on the spar menu, were told they could have meals from the main menu and have £25 each off the main menu price, but this was still owe and the Chinese lady told us was wrong! Yet the spar menu was the same as the main menu, just with less of the meals from the main menu!! Nothing different, how do you get that, when the spar menu is £25 and the same main meal they had off the main was £40?? So how did they manage to price up this main menu?? So we still owed money on the bill!! Three times we asked about the prices, the Chinese lady said it was right, then it was wrong when we came to pay!!! We were all sharing each other chips as we were still hungry. You put a bad name on the Midland Hotel and never coming back. Terrible to call it a meal or menu, your a disgrace. Avoid this place with your wallet and go to a better restaurants as they can not make their mind up what to charge people, other snaking you with a one item meal, expensive service charge which I think we paid for the table and glasses! What they call a meal is just one item and charge you £40 and everything else is extra!!! I felt sorry for the persons party, you wrecked her night! Since that meal, I have very ill with my stomach and I have not eaten since that night! Call trading standards!!
