First time visit. A young man at the bar was so welcoming when I asked were I need to go to eat, showed my friend and I upstairs finding us a table and explaining what happened. I ordered chicken and chorizo was delicious my friend had the soup she said it was little bit spicy but enjoyed it, apple and blueberry crumble with 2 spoons to share lovely touch by the staff. All the waitresses that served us were polite and welcoming. The restaurant was very busy (good sign of a good place). Excellent customer service.

We called at this lovely pub on Sunday the 17th of December for a light lunch and a drink. The staff are just great, so welcoming and helpful. We shared the pulled beef brisket with mature cheddar cheese and the best chunky chips I've had in a long time. The pub is spotless, and the toilets are the same. Thank you. I can't wait to return.

Great character pub, friendly staff and great food. Very good range of beers and ciders and their pie specials are first class. Also very reasonably priced.

We have been in this pub previously and it’s always busy, but the staff never turn us away and take the trouble to find us a table each time. On this occasion we revisited for that very reason, just as much as knowing the food available is good standard for pub style food. We both opted for beef and ale pie. The pie was fabulous. It came with chips and a large carrot, so the only down comment is about the veggies which we felt could have been a more generous mixed portion, included in the price of the main meal. Having said that, the service was excellent, we weren’t forgotten about, despite there being several larger parties in at the same time as us. We will definitely revisit in the future.

The place is very interesting and also cozy. The food was great. The sauce seemed homemade. There was a good atmosphere and it was very comfortable.

Turned up the off chance but there was a wait for tables. Not a problem (it was very busy and table was ready when they said) food was excellent (one steak and ale pie, one roast beef). Meat was tender, gravy could really taste the dripping! Service at table was effective and friendly. Slight hiccup in the bar downstairs as we waiting, where the bar person missed we'd not been served but he was apologetic Overall excellent

The Old Wellington is situated between Manchester Cathedral and the main shopping district so an ideal location to take a break from sightseeing and/ or shopping. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is comprehensive and the drink selection equally as impressive. My wife and I visited the Old Wellington a couple of times during our visit to Manchester for drinks and on our final evening we went for dinner. We had not booked but were seated with no fuss. A couple of minutes into our visit a table became available near the window overlooking the courtyard below. We asked if we could relocate and our server (Aoife) was happy to attend to our request. Our drinks arrived and we placed our food order. I chose the slow coked shin of beef pie with my wife opting for the fish pie. When our meals arrived both dishes were well presented and delicious. Highly recommended and thanks again to Aoife for looking after us and making our visit special.

Fabulous, old pub/eatery in the heart of Manchester - yum! A special shout out to Keiron who went above and beyond checking out the ingredients of the Fish pie due to my MSG allergy. He was a delightful young man.

We choose the Old Wellington because we wanted a cosy pub! …..it was however absolutely freezing in there and we could not enjoy our meal. We brought it to the attention of our server who said it was an old building and nothing they could do. It was -1 outside and not far off inside. Food and service was good although we thought a bit expensive for pub food and we waited a long time for our food. Also Mulled wine served in a paper coffee cup at the dinner table ??‍♂️

Stunning pub, full of character. My daughter and I called in for a bite to eat, both really enjoyed the sausage and mash (one meat, one veggie) great service from Aoife, will definitely return.

This place is a true gem, and steeped in history , called in yet again for a drink ( mulled cider is a must) and dinner, the pies are amazing. Big thanks to Sophie for her service and attention.

Wandered in for a late breakfast. Absolutely delicious food. The avocado on toast was scrumptious. My husband loved his full breakfast especially the bacon.Vegetarian options: Delicious avocado on toast. Slight regret that I didn’t try the vegetarian breakfast.
