I was in Tyldesley to watch a rugby match and by pure chance called into the Union Arms for a pre-match pint and a spot of lunch. It looked a bit rough on the outside, but once inside I received a very friendly welcome. The real ales were excellent and the steak & ale pie superb and plentiful. Would definitely come again.

We popped in today to get a bite to eat and a pint. Even though they were fully booked they found a table for us once again the food service and hospitality were second to none. Thank you.Vegetarian options: The cheese and onion pie is fantastic

What a fabulous pub this is. At the heart of the community and serving delicious food. One of the finest places I have ever eaten in my 65 years on this planet. (And I live a long way from Tydlesey!)

Booked a table for two on a Thursday night. Had the most tasty tender of steaks with a peppers, onion rings and proper chips. Really great service and some good ales served at the quaint little bar. Cheery atmosphere, reminded me of how great pubs were in the 80’s. Will definitely be back again

I was introduced to the Union Arms by friends. The food was home cooked and delicious, the staff friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. We had a fantastic lunch.

Went back to my old local for a few drinks and a Sunday Roast. The food was lovely and very good portion sizes. Proper hearty homemade food!! Could not recommend enough. The service was prompt and very friendly . We will be back again very soon and might even squeeze in one of very tempting desserts. Thanks guys!!

My first visit to this place. Now don’t get me wrong but I don’t think I’m out of place to suggest Tyldesley is hardly a gastronomic centre. Indeed, in years gone by it’s more the type of place where you’d expect a fight on an evening. And this place looks like the type of venue where you might have had this in yesteryear. But step inside and you’re treated to a management clearly trying to make this place stand out for being different. Varied menu. Friendly staff. And the food was really good. The roast was enormous. And the burgers are worth their year 2000 award. And as an aside the entry to the gents looked like a typical pub toilet yet inside was something befitting of a gastropub. Tiled and spotlessly clean. If you want nice food in a more traditional northern pub type atmosphere you should visit Union Arms. Will defo be returning.
