Wasn’t feeling too well this evening and really fancied a roast dinner but didn’t want to make one or go out. Saw that the French Horn were offering free delivery and they had Roast dinner on the menu! I ordered the chicken one and a dessert for afters, to be honest I wasn’t expecting wonderful being a delivery but I was so wrong! The food arrived just half an hour later & was piping hot. It looked amazing & tasted even better! The portion was plenty too. The crumble I ordered for dessert was also unreal! Huge thankyou for the lovely food & quick delivery, will definitely be ordering from you guys again. 5 stars well deserved!

The Sunday roast was delicious and perfect portion size. The wine was ridiculously expensive. Ask for the wine menu before ordering.

Because of special dietary needs we checked the menu before booking to ensure there was at least 2 dishes that were suitable. On arriving we found that there was only the Valentines fixed menu which had no suitable dishes. Fortunately the kitchen found one of their usual dishes they could serve, but when it arrived the mashed potatoes were cold. They took the dish back and reheated, but then the meat was overheated and dried up. The staff were fantastic in trying to accommodate our needs but the food fell short of our expectations. We were not the only guests that were caught out by the menu change that night, they decided to leave rather than choose from the very restricted Valentine menu. Perhaps the online booking needs to be changed to make it clearer when a restricted menu is the only option. Diners should check when booking which menu is available for the date of their booking.

Came for an evening meal as you are half way between our 2 locations. Really happy to have found this lovely dog friendly pub. Food was delicious, service excellent.

Food is good but beer needs somea attention.

Good pub.Unsure if they have rooms so can't really review those.Service was good and didn't have to wait for a table. However when busy parking is a nightmare.

What a shame! This pub has so much potential, but somehow it's just fading away through lack of interest. The shorter hours and the possibility of earlier closure are obviously off-putting, but the unfriendly barstaff are another negativity. We often visit this pub in an effort to try to help them out, but come away wondering why we bothered.

Booked for a lunch at 1 pm , still waiting for food at 1-45 pm , when we asked how much longer would the food be we were told at least another twenty minutes!. Other customers had also been waiting well over the hour, totally unacceptable. If we had been told from the start that they were running that far behind,it would have saved us waiting so long before making the decision to leave.

For a work team Xmas lunch it was really nice. Just some little things missing, like cranberry sauce, but overall it was nice food

Met up with my cousin for lunch. Had no idea what to expect - but we were immediately made to feel very welcome by Dan. Throughout the afternoon he was attentive, helpful and an excellent host. The food was very good and we agreed we’d meet there again - rather than try anywhere else.

Many years ago (too many) I visited The French Horn with my wife but at that time you were not sure if it was a Pub or Restaurant, Boy has that changed, Great Food served on hot plates..Great friendly service and the young man serving us understood the needs of myself and my guests all of us over 75.The food arrived spot on and quickly which surprised us seeing as the Restaurant was rammed. We all had the Sunday Roast Beef(£17.50) which included Cauliflower Cheese..Vegetables..and 3 or 4 slices Beef..excellent Roast Potatoes along with plenty of other veg. Timothy Taylor at £4.70..Stella.£5.00 followed by Coffee at £2.50 and £3.45 Latte the bill for the 3 meals and extras was £73.15 more than acceptable having had an exceptional meal.A really cosy efficient Pub with friendly staff. We will return to what, in my opinion, is the Best Sunday Lunch in the Alton area. Thank uou very muchFood & drinks: Great Drinks prices.

The best meal we had during our long visit to England. Fish and chips and apple pie for dessert. The fish was piping hot and cooked to perfection. Very flavorful. The chips were fresh and plump. Apple pie was delish. Server was so sweet and attentive too! Couldn’t have been better.
