Great service. The lady who served us was possibly the friendliest waitress ever. Made to feel very welcome. Food was really good and the coffee was better than the high street brands.

The portions were generous at a reasonable price and the service was top-notch. Lovely place for a bite to eat.

Went downhill since they introduced table service. Takes ages to order food and even longer to receive it. Staff should be more attentive.

I mean, this is £8 worth of a jacket potato that's missing the salad and most of the cheese and beans by the look. We waited 15 minutes for this on a Sunday when there was only 4 other tables in use. Waitress was really nice but I am refusing to pay for the JP, which she accepted and refunded.

So far this week I have grabbed a morning coffee to go and, because the staff were so lovely & the coffee very good, a lunch to go on another day. I had a falafel & hummus salad for lunch and it was delicious: fresh salad, soft falafel & a gorgeous zingy dressing …. I might go again tomorrow and suggest they do a loyalty card ?Vegetarian options: See above the salad was fabulous

My friend and I have been coming to the Granary for their lovely bacon rolls followed by cake and a coffee on a regular basis, they WERE the best bacon rolls in Basingstoke. The last time we were there was only two weeks ago, went there this morning and unfortunately everything has changed. It’s now table service, which I don’t have a problem with, they also have a different menu, they seem to be offering cooked breakfasts, salads, toasted sandwiches etc, which I also don’t have a problem with, although I’m not sure if they have a proper kitchen. On the new menu they offer a bacon sandwich instead of a roll, which I don’t really have and issue with but when it comes, it’s actually a bacon roll but the roll isn’t toasted so they call it a sandwich because it’s soft, their words not mine. Unfortunately the bacon wasn’t cooked properly and it was also cold so we had to send it back to get it reheated. It also has a tomato jelly already on the roll, which unfortunately is really sweet and makes everything really slimy and stogie. To top it all off the price has gone up from £12.50 for two bacon rolls and two coffees to 17.00 and it was definitely not worth that. The other issue is they do not appear to have any idea about food hygiene, one member of staff was wearing gloves to prepare food, they would then use the till, use the staff toilet, fiddle with their greasy hair and then move on to the next customer without changing their gloves. I wonder if they have got a food hygiene certificate, I didn’t see one displayed anywhere. I also noticed that they we’re bringing food in from the restaurant next door. It looked like cooked chicken but it wasn’t covered or anything, it was just in large open bowls. They also had some of the cakes stored in the same container with bacon and cheese croissants, which to me doesn’t seem acceptable for a cafe or restaurant . We always have cake with another coffee after our bacon roll so we thought you can’t really go wrong with that but when the cake came it was like cardboard, very stale and dry so again we had to send it back. The venue does not have a customer toilet, which hasn’t really bothered me in the past but if they are trying to make it a more up market establishment and the prices they are now charging maybe they should organise that before trying to change something that was very good to begin with. So very disappointing, my friend and I are now looking for a different venue to meet and have coffee etc, we will definitely not be going back.

What a great little café nestled inside Festival Place. The flatbread pizza I had took me back to every single Mediterranean holiday I've ever been on, rich tomato sauce and meaty pepperoni, with a really thin but not overly crispy base. The chicken and bacon salad, with a Caesar dressing was much bigger than expected and the crispy chicken coating was a pleasant addition. The red velvet cake was a touch dry, and bizarrely brought to us as a starter rather than waiting until after we had finished our mains. The timing of the meals was slightly off, I had my pizza a good 5 minutes before the salad arrived rather than them both arriving at the same time. The service was great, everyone was lovely and friendly, and overall great value for money. I'll definitely be back.

Location is good.GREAT PLUS as it still takes cash! Not so good was the "on special" scone and pot of tea advertised in the front for £5.50. Scone was dry and crumbly, even after the young man heated it up. I had to use the cream-smear and jam to maneuver the crumps together to be eatable.I've asked the young man if the scones were freshly baked? His answer was yes.My suggestion to the young lady and young man, was to mention to owner that scones should be baked freshly and served freshly on the premises. Their reply were, it was baked this morning. Needless to say, I know what fresh scones should taste like.I am not someone who would normally complains, but I am, and have be used to better services in the past, especially if someone do have a complain, rather give them the option of a refund or to rectify it somehow, in order avoid bad reviews for the business you work for.

Disappointing, normally quite good service and food. But again today its like the staff member has no idea what she is doing. Food not cooked properly, dirty cups served to us as well.
