Lovely pub hotel great meals friendly staff good service. Bathroom in our room could do with a makeover as it's a bit dated and tired but otherwise great place to stay.

Service always lets this place down no flexibility with changing anything on the menu. Also when I ordered my drink (vodka and diet coke) I asked to top up the glass to the top and was told it was going to cost £1 as the serving was measured and no top up allowed. Money grabbers! Poor service and very disappointing.

Stayed here from Fri 10- Sun 12th Nov 2023 and it was just right for what I needed. The single room was clean, with enough space to unpack a suitcase on the floor and a good price. The staff were friendly and helpful. When I realised I had left my phone charger at home, they were able to supply me with a plug. I had bed and breakfast. The breakfast was ample with a mixture of continental and cooked choice. The rooms were not very sound proof but luckily it wasn't too noisy. The shower had power and all facilities were adequate.Would definitely do a short stay here again. Thank you Red Lion staff - a very happy customer :)

Pleasant family stay. Food very good at both breakfast and evening meal. Kids meals are extremely well priced and of a good size. Drinks a little expensive for a pub. Great locations, close to lots of shops and bars. Plenty of parking.Room was a great size, but ceiling too low if you are over 6'. Bathroom is in need of modernisation and heating needs to be fixed as it doesn't get warm enough

The staff are very helpful, attentive and lovelyThe bedroom was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. the bathroom was also very clean.I had room23.Had a fan and hairdryer also. So no complaintsI will add Wich is no fault of the hotel but parents of children that run up and down outside the door ,shouting screaming and slamming doors and even swearing loudly .Again, no reflection on hotel just rude children left to run wildThe bar staff amazing .a really nice Spanish chap .And the breakfast ladies on the 23/10 were friendly ,happy and pleasant .The breakfast was deliciousRooms: Clean and comfortableWalkability: Car park very close byFood & drinks: Really lovely food ,Tea and coffee in bedroom

Rooms were decent. Old lady at reception was hostile, her with the crystal ball. The rest of the staff were nice! Bar is reasonably priced. Very well located.

Great spot, rooms traditional with what you need. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Parking is free if you are staying.Nearby activities: Just off the main street. But not in the thick of it. Not far from Portsmouth historical museums.Walkability: A lot of restaurants not to far away.Food & drinks: Reasonable prices. Food is well worth trying.

I spent 4 nights at the Red Lion hotel in Fareham It’s an old coaching inn on the main shopping st with free parking for guests The staff were really nice and polite The chamber maid for my room (4) Was really nice and helpful and professional. My room though was a huge disappointment. The smallest room they had I believe. Not good for a 4 night stay The room was cold and the window small with not much light coming in The view was of a bin area or that sort of thing. The bathroom small and very smelly. Drains smell although the chamber maid did her best to disinfect it I have stayed here a few times in the past due to the location The bed was very comfortable better than premiure inn I paid a lot for 4 nights. There were much better single rooms empty I am a solo lady traveller. I ate breakfast every morning and that was good however the evening meals were not good I tried something different every night but even the Sunday traditional lunch was spoiled by the glaze they put on the vegetables. Sort of fragrant. Sweet The mash was powdered mash and the pie was very hard and far too salty I had a steak one night and that was ok The prawn and advocating was really fresh and nice The meat on the Sunday roast was more like steak. I chose it as the menus said tender pink sirloin. This was not true. It was tough dark and I couldn’t eat it. I left most of it as again it had that horrible glaze on the veg I did not really complain as it would not have done much. I did ask the waitress if the chef could leave that glaze off but she said that’s how it came and that was hotel policy The waitress ( short with blond short hair and a Welsh sounding accent she was not helpful The hotel on the whole is very dated but it blends in with being a coaching inn All in all if I ever stay again I would have to make sure I didn’t get room 4 again I forgot to mention during the night I could here the room next doors toilet being flushed a few times.
