Good sized portions and reasonable value. Unfortunately the fish is not cooked fresh to order but seems to be pre-cooked in large batches and then sits there in the cabinet drying out until sold. The cod I was served had clearly been there too long and was long past its best. Chips were fairly average, not very crisp. It always annoys me when fish and chip shops pre-cook the fish. I am sure the vast majority of customers would prefer to wait a few minutes and have freshly cooked food.Large cod, small chips and a mushy pea fritter cost £11.60.

We had a cheese burger, veggie burger, chips and a mushy pea fritter. All v nice. Pea fritter possibly the best one I've had and I've had a lot.

Got fish and chips, saveloy and fried chicken. Mrs and I shared it all bar the fried chicken.I’m now really unwell. And the fella couldn’t be bothered to come off his phone.Won’t be coming back.

Awful chips, worst I've tasted. They were anemic looking and were oddly very 'sharp' (they must have been pre-cooked and left to 'set')! Very disappointed and wouldn't go there again nor recommend! However, the service was very good and impressed with the hygiene.

Ots not too bad, it isn't the best but it's certainly not the worst. Aberystwyth pier is still top of my list.Parking: Very few direct spaces but plenty within 2 minutesWheelchair accessibility: Footpaths and crossings all wheelchair friendly

i bought a large cod and chips, which ive bought before as the hook has a reputation as a good fish and chip shop,i paid sat down within less then 5 minutes it was ready,it was dark brown over cooked oily batter ,fish was stained inside brown,i didnt unwrap the meal till i got home,if i had done so in the shop i would of asked for my money back ,it was the worst ive bought for a long time, will not buy fom there again ,a good reputation spoilt by staff who should but dont know how to serve quality fish and chips

Food is very expensive for the portion size.I had normal fish and chips husband had large his fish came out the same size of mine but had to pay the extra
The fish was very disgusting and very disappointed. There was hardly any fish. The batter was burnt on the outside and uncooked in the inside. The chips portion is very little.

The batter was think and full of grease

Quality here is like a yo-yo. One minute it’s absolutely spot on and the next you get a bag full of bits of chips.Come on, sort it out.

Not a lot of people know this but if you like a donnor kebab try one from here. I love a good kebab and while the kebabs may not be big city standard, it is one of the better options in the area.
