You know it’s a nice pub when you see locals with dogs in there. We visited for brunch and it was delicious, hot and freshly cooked. Lovely coffee too.

A bit grimey, food was tired looking and poor tasting, wine was off and they didn’t seem to think they needed to open a fresh bottle. The experience did not match the high prices. Disappointing.

Visited on a lunchtime and was very impressed with the experience. Very welcoming friendly staff. The food was very well cooked typical pub offering. Pie and vegetables plus a well cooked fish and chips - a huge portion.

Nice pub but food and service poor. We had reserved a table for breakfast with some friends as part of my wife’s birthday celebrations. In fact we were the only people eating at the time and there were just a few other people having coffees. We found our own table as noone greeted us. We had to go to the bar to order, as still, no staff approached us - no big deal though. We ordered and each breakfast happened to have poached eggs with it. All 8 poached eggs were solid. My wife had smashed avocado which was mashed to death and simply smeared over the sourdough with the salmon alongside it. I didn’t want to kick up a fuss as we were having a nice time with friends anyway. I did mention it to the waitress, who did apologise, but that was it. Four breakfasts came to £80 so all in all not value for money.

We met friends who had booked a table never been before and will not return the pub is lovely and staff are friendly but the food is way overpriced for what you get and you had to wait a long time for it £130 odd for 4 x small cheeseburgers and chips with wine to my mind is way overpriced. Ok but not exceptional. Sorry won’t be returning any time soon

As a pub it has a great atmosphere. However - the food we ate was very overpriced for what it was. 3 drinks between us, 2 starters, 2 mains - that’s £97 thank you. Very small portion of fillet for £31 - 2 small medallions - NOT worth anything like it.

We visited Boxing Day evening for a birthday meal, the host was very friendly and welcoming. Lovely food, which included a Christmas dinner, and very good wine/cocktails. We will definitely return

Had a few of the cocktails and they were sooo delicious and looked amazing. Would highly recommend the praline martini. Definitely coming again and will spreading the word about the cocktails.

A nice looking place but what a disappointing meal for top pub prices. I had a burger that was two over done ‘supermarket or McD’ type burger patties in a small brioche roll and a few chips. The burger had obviously been sat for a while and was Luke worm. To be fair when I raised this the staff reacted well and provided a much warmed version some while later. Really not good quality or value for money. My wife had the special curry of the day which while tasty was very short on meat content. Overall staff good, food poor and very over priced for what was served. We will not be returning.

Such a lovely evening at The Chequers! We were really looked after by Abbie. Food and service was excellent. Will definitely be back :)

A group of 20 of us descended on the pub for Saturday lunch. They were v helpful in the build up, very flexible allowing us to order up until the last minute or take people off as events dictated. They knew we all had to get away to watch some local sport and everything ran very smoothly. But most importantly, the food was absolutely top notch. Best pub food I have had in a long time. Not cheap but good value for what you get.

Absolutely loved this pub. We were staying in a local hotel. We went for lunch and came back the next morning for breakfast. Comfy chairs in front of a wood burner - great tasty food and lovely friendly atmosphere. The assistant manager was fabulous my friend and I would highly recommend.

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at the Chequers, it is the perfect place. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. The Sunday lunch was so good, one of us had roast beef and the other vegetarian wellington, served with a good range of vegetables, roast potatoes, very impressive Yorkshire puds and gravy. They even offered us extra potatoes, Yorkshire and gravy when we were halfway through. One of us accepted the extras with alacrity! We will certainly go back to the Chequers.

We decided at the last minute to go for a late lunch, and thought that The Chequers would be a good option as we liked the look of their patio area. From the minute we arrived the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing! And I am not exaggerating! I had the mushroom special starter + skinny fries and it was lush! (I have asked that they add it to the standard menu as I will want this again next time!). The salted caramel and chocolate tarte was absolutely gorgeous - not too sweet, not too much (sad that I choose to share it with my daughter!). Genuinely the best meal we have had in a really long time, and we will definitely be back ;)

First time visit for a Sunday roast, had high hopes due to the full car park. We were not disappointed at all, the ambience is relaxing, cosy and comfortable, the food was outstanding, best Yorkshire I've had, gammon cooked to perfection, vegetables perfect, the dessert of apple crumble and custard was also the best I've had. highly recommend Chequers. Hope they maintain the standard.
