The big thing going for this pub is the large garden set next to the Basingstoke canal, so a nice place to while away a couple of hours with a beer and some food. The staff are friendly and the food is good for a chain pub, with top marks for pudding! You sort of know what you are getting and letting yourself in for, so comforting from that point. Definitely a place to visit when the sun is out.

Our Daughter took us here because she said the food is good and she wasn't wrong, we had a very good lunch the service was good and quick with polite staff. The prices for a main course are reasonable and if you are with the armed services you get a discount when you show your ID. The atmosphere is like all eateries somewhat quiet, but I think the place is a we bit more lively at night by the bar. We'll worth a visit.

We didn’t eat here but we were welcomed and sat by a cosy fire. Dogs are also welcome.

Amazing boxing day lunch here. Such good value for money. The portions were huge and tasted beautiful. Will definitely be back.

Managed to squeeze us in before the tractor guys and girls arrived on New Years Day. Scrummy, well needed food, thank you!

Can’t personally vouch for the food as we didn’t end up eating and left. We were shown to a table which was surrounded by tables that hadn’t been cleared from previous diners, while there was also food on the floor around our chairs. The pub was empty and kitchen staff were sitting around at the table, real shame as it used to be lovely but has been let down by the lack of management.

Lovely setting for a drink after a walk along the Basingstoke Canal or for a meal. We met family there for lunch and ended up staying for over three hours. Food was great, service was excellent, and the setting was perfect. Didn't feel rushed at all and would highly recommend it.

Can’t really say this was good enough for the Xmas dinner - let alone a normal dinner- Wasn’t even a full plate. This was my plate before taking a bite. ( I had cut one of the bits of steak in half. But this is pretty much how it came out ) aunt Bessie frozen potatoes even ? Not sure. I understand it’s Xmas and the staff probably would have preferred to be at home with family. But paying over £70 a head wasn’t worth it.- not actually sure how this was served with a straight face ? Not only this plate. But my starter. Simple cheesy garlic bread was a half baked ciabatta roll that was stuck Under the grill. Top was toasted. But the bottom half wasn’t cooked. Even the dessert wasn’t great - I ate what I could because it was our only option for Xmas dinner at that point. I won’t even speak on the rest of the families. Luckily we had a good sense of humour. And laughed it offf. But never again.

We came to the Waterwitch today for Boxing Day for their festive menu, 8 of us in total and we were blown away. The waiting staff were incredible and went above and beyond. The food was unbelievable and portion sizes so generous none of us could finish it all. Such a great atmosphere and so cosy. We will be back next year for Boxing Day again. Thank you Waterwitch

Having lived literally down the road for over 10 years, we know it can be very hit and miss - I assume depending on the chef and staff of the moment. However, we’ve had very good experiences for the past few months when coming for just a drink after a dog walk or for a meal. We went for the festive menu on Christmas Eve and it was great. 2 courses of good quality, reasonably priced food with attentive and friendly staff. The front of the restaurant could do with an interior makeover, but equally we appreciate being able to take our dog for dinner in that area. I hope Greene King and the current team are turning this place around as it is in such a beautiful location with a cosy interior.

Not as good as it used to be. Unfortunately we booked many weeks ago and when we arrived it was like it was a surprise. After waiting about an hour for breakfast we were told that they were short staffed and only had two people on. It however wasn’t very busy. Drinks were being brought out one at a time, tea pots with no lids on and being asked if they could take them back to wash up (just don’t put them in a tea pot and put it in a mug) It did seem there may have been a manager there who was sat down the whole time (but I don’t know so this part I can’t confirm is true), the food was freezing, no butter for the toast for the kids, daughters egg may have well been in an egg sandwich as it was so overcooked. I can always appreciate it when restaurants are understaffed, but we are understanding and I would have preferred to know at the beginning of the meal. Unfortunately it was just a shambles from start to finish, I had to ask where Santa was and then I was told we would get taken to him after breakfast but we had finished quite a while ago. I really am not someone who loves moaning, but just feel the training needs to be improved for staff, they were pleasant but equally too much went wrong yesterday and I wondered where the support was for them. Maybe go for dinner - but breakfast isn’t worth it unless you fancy eating cold sausage.

We just went in for a drink after a long walk. The place is clean, comfortable, and welcoming. If we had more time, we would have eaten there, the food other patrons were having looked lovely. Good choice of beer & food. Will definitely visit again & next time try out the victuals on offer.
