Great pub and hotel. The rooms in the new section are the ones to go for. Erin is superb and a great duty manager and can’t do enough to help you. Food is ok: I feel it could be better for lunches and dinners: perhaps the menu is a bit broad and the kitchen a bit short staffed. I don’t know and am just speculating. Breakfasts though are great.

Disappointing. Eaten here previously and enjoyed. On this occasion, not quite so good. Nice starter and mains were to be followed by dessert. Unfortunately, the warm welcome given didn't extend to telling us that the kitchen closed between 3.00 and 4.00 p.m., for "the" chef to have his break - so no cover in the kitchen - and no dessert either. Interesting, as the blackboard in the car park clearly states the kitchen is open between 12.00 and 9.00 p.m., bur forgets to mention the culinary hiatus.Thank you for the response but no signs regarding the kitchen closure were visible or pointed out to us on our visit and neither myself nor my partner imagined the blackboard on the left of the pub entrance, hard by the wall, when we left the car park. If signs have since been put up and the blackboard removed, then that can only help to clarify matters considerably for other guests and we applaud such action. Aside from this particular blip, nice food, fairly priced.

We took a family room (no. 10) and it was spacious for the 3 of us. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had several meals in the pub restaurant and it was good pub food at a very reasonable price. We would definitely return.

This could be a really nice pub but unfortunately it has been ruined by the so called “company policy” to litter every wall with a TV which is constantly on. If I wanted to watch Tv I can watch at home. If I want to watch a match with my mates I would go to either The Raven or The Old White Hart. With the population of Hook having grown in the last few years this pub has the potential to turn itself into a far better place, serving the families of Hook, with a more traditional pub, decent food, a range of beers (only ever serve one that seems to be available) and with no TV IN YOUR FACE

Came here lastnite for a 60th birthday celebration. Could not fault it, staff more than helpful and really accommodating. Buffet food provided went down well very tasty. Big thankful to all the staff.
Now I love this pub. Feels like a proper old school boozer. And I've never had a problem with the food here. Until recently I went for a meal with my family and fancied something warming and went for the chilli. I cannot express how disappointing it was. It came with rice and three Doritos. The consistency of it was like soup. It tasted ok so I ate it but there was hardly anything in it. A couple of kidney beans and I'm not sure I saw any mince meat in there. But I did the very British thing and ate it and didn't complain.

We stayed in the hotel for a night witch was very comfy clean and modern , we ate dinner and breakfast in the pub and have no complaints about either . The food was served hot and plenty of it all cooked fresh . The staff wore all friendly and happy to serve us . We would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to any one .

The rooms are beautiful and l would thoroughly recommend. The beer was also excellent and the staff were all absolutely lovely BUT the food is appalling and l’ve seen better furnishings in the local charity shop. It wouldn’t take much to sort it out. I suspect the brewery that owns it do not give their tenants enough support which is usually the story. Thanks for the hospitality though and we’ll see you next year……but might go to the chippy ?
