The independent High Street kitchen in Lymington Town Centre is superb for all occasions. Gavin, owner and head chef, delivers superb food for exceptionally reasonable prices. I highly recommend it for both lunch and dinner. And we will be back very soon with more friends and family. Thanks Tobias @britanniahouselymington

The best food we have eaten in a long time. Lovely surroundings, fairly priced and outstanding quality ingredients & chefmanship. Highlights were lamb shank, seared tuna, passion fruit soufflé & lime tart. Utterly delicious. Will be back very soon. Well worth the 2 hour journey.

Called in for a light lunch with low expectations only to be wowed by the offering. The beautifully cooked mackerel with Isle of White tomatoes in oil on toasted sourdough was absolutely delicious. The passion fruit souffle with mango ice creme perfect, if a bit too fruity for my taste. Just sorry there were not more customers on market day, although the building suffers from a lack of street presence, which is a pity because the ambience is great

We had visited on a previous occasion and having brother in law and his wife visiting from New Zealand decided to book a lunch here before they returned home after a short visit to the U.K. Our don joined us from Southampton for the occasion and we were absolutely wowed with a great light meal from Gary and his team Brother in law had new forest mushrooms on toast enlarged from a starter to a main course and the other 4 had the daily fish offering which was skate wing. Both choices were really superb and for dessert we had passion fruit soufflé and mango sorbet- delicious and my wife had sticky toffee pudding - the best she had ever tasted Thank you for a great meal, fairly priced.

We went to The High Street Kitchen on Saturday evening and were very disappointed with the menu that bore no resemblance to the sample menu on their website. The choice was extremely limited and of the few main courses on offer, one was cottage pie and another fish and chips. Rarely have I looked at a menu then left and gone elsewhere. This was one such occasion and am unlikely to go back. We ate here when it first opened and it was much better then.

Love this place, whatever is on the menu will be done extremely well, helpful and friendly staff add to the experience, hard to fault, difficult to beat, please keep on doing what you do, my only complaint is I cant eat there as often as I would like.

This is a restaurant with an light airy feel, with a very tasteful décor and good table arrangements. Nice artwork and plenty of staff to assist in the ordering and provision of the delicious seasonal food. To see what they offer I would suggest looking at the website as much is dependant on what is available. The wine choice by the glass is good and something for most people I would say. A local place for us and one you can rely on every time.

It's obviously satisfies many diners' tastes according to other reviews but I can only speak as I found. We were a group of 18 oldies on two tables for the 'budget' lunch at £22.50 for 2 courses or £26.50 for 3 courses including a 125 mm glass of house wine. As there were only three options for each course it's rather limited, but I understand why, and if so you have to get that right. Liver pate for a starter and liver for a main course is not a good idea if only three choices are offered. Most of us had prawn cocktail for a starter which was generous in its content, but the prawns were of shrimp size, but otherwise okay. Soup seemed to be the next popular. Main course was a different story on our table. I had fishcake with about 6 chunky chips and some mustard & cress garnish with an oil and butter herb sauce. it was fairly bland and the chips were good, but the portion size was limited and needed a green vegetable. Three others had the risotto with English asparagus, served 'al dante' which were all sent back as they were at best tepid. One diner complained that the asparagus needed to be cooked more to her liking as al dante was much too hard. All three came back with fresh plates only for two diners to leave most of it saying it was 'disgusting', although the third diner cleared her plate. The asparagus was still very al dante and I ate some of it off their plates as I don't mind it like that and didn't want to see it go to waste. It was good flavour and you needed good teeth. Sweet was a creme brulee with raspberry sorbet, and good. One point of note. if you had 2 courses and purchased a 125 mm glass of house wine at £5 you paid £1.00 more than if you had had the 3 course meal inclusive. Rishi says "Do the maths". I'm trying to be constructive, but if a customer doesn't like the way you've cooked something then take that on board, instead of sending it out the same a second time. Staff were pleasant and seem to work hard at what they're trying to do. The MD just needs to listen to her customer's observations. it was my first visit so if I go again I might have a different opinion.

Absolutely love the food at the Kitchen, it’s our staple place to eat whenever we come to Lymington. Staff are great and the environment matches. Such value too - fabulous place.

Have eaten here twice now, once for dinner (2 couples) and once for lunch (party of 11). On both occasions, the meals were impeccably produced and served: a menu selection catering to all palates, and each dish offering fresh local ingredients prepared to produce a happy combination of flavours, textures and colours. Gavin is a superb chef and his creations are a gastronomic delight. The house red and white are of good quality, and there is a good range of non-alcoholic drinks. Just one minor quibble - the mocktails would be more enjoyable if not served in a glass so large it has to be wrapped around with two hands to drink from - it's like holding a mug of cocoa. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and understated, without being cold or austere, and with interesting artwork on walls. Friendly, personal service - the team here really care about the satisfaction of their clientele and do their utmost to make the experience pleasurable.

What a wonderful range of frozen food they have. Some wonderful combinations can be made up here. Not cheap but excellent value for money. Very impressive.
