Excellent location as it’s a short walk to Lyndhurst town, lovely swimming pool, very friendly staff, comfortable rooms and just a short walk from meeting the ponies, donkeys and pigs the New Forest offers

We stayed at forest lodge for a 2 night break as part of a Paultons Park package, common areas are clean & tidy but the room we stayed in was an absolute disgrace, thick dust, old discarded food, grimy bathroom, broken curtain & best of all, cleaners who mooch around your room when your out even though the do not disturb sign was put on the door! General manager offer a miserly 25% off any future stays! As if!!! Can honestly say that my dogs sleep in better conditions to what this hotel offers. Will never stay again and will also be advising anybody I know to steer clear, general manager also lied by telling us this was an isolated issue but after checking reviews we realised people have been making similar complaints for 2 years minimum, Paultons stepped in in the end and refunded us £86 back for a trip that cost £540, also can’t believe they are continuing to endorse this, what I can only describe as a s*** hole hotel. Save your money and choose somewhere different, you’ll thank me.

5 out of 5 Means we had no complaints. Friendly , Clean , great service and value for money. A comfortable room with everything we needed . The Bar was well stocked with plenty of choices , the Restaurant had plenty of choice “ we only stayed for Breakfast but again good quality ingredients with taste and great service to boot . The bonus of a clean and pleasant swimming pool was a welcome addition too . We will certainly be back .

Grim and dirty. Filthy bedrooms. Filthy bathrooms. No availability for (paid and charged for) breakfast - unless you want to eat at 7am or 10am. More like a lower end 3 star - being generous. Better off In a premier inn.

The hotel was so welcoming, and suited us down to the ground. It is very well positioned - granddaughters could see ponies before a very hearty breakfast. Great to have the swimming facilities too. We cannot praise the staff enough - they were all so good.

3 nights for 2 deal, the first room was filthy with cobwebs everywhere, light bulbs not working, water marks on ceiling and no water pressure. We complained and were shown to another room which was just as bad, we went for a swim while they found us another room…we accepted this one but was still filthy and stains on cushions but at least we had a shower that worked…the bed was made up of multiple mattresses and mattress protectors and was awful, as this room was above reception we had doors banging all night and then at 6.30 am a lorry arrived outside with delivery!!! We were just getting back to sleep when the hotel Gardner decided to start his leaf blower up outside at 7.30 am. I went down to reception to say we couldn’t possibly spend another night in that room, with this we were told if we packed our stuff up we would be found another room by the end of the day which happened and this room was clean and tidy with a working shower. We felt sorry for the young lad on reception on the first evening as he was trying to manage everything, you couldn’t get a drink in the bar as this was not manned. In the end we spent every evening eating at the lovely Waterloo Arms 2 minutes round the corner, what a fantastic pub. One positive was that the breakfast was lovely with a wonderful young lady looking after us every morning. It really was not fair on the young lad on reception who dealt with our rooms to be so under staffed and we felt quite sorry for him. We felt robbed spending nearly £300.00 on a stay with losing our first day moving rooms. This Hotel is in such a great location but is completely let down by the cleanliness and lack of staff, not sure who is the manager but they need to take the blame for this. I would not recommend to anyone after our stay.

Stayed at forest lodge 2 years ago during the Covid period and had a lovely stay. Oh how the hotel has gone downhill since, room was dirty on arrival and still after it was meant to be cleaned, dirty tissues, mould/dirt all in the bath. Swimming pool was freezing and all though a lovely pool this took away any enjoyment of the 10 minutes used we could put ourselves through. The hotel is in a great location but is in drastic need of some works to bring it back up to the standard we previously experienced. Wouldn’t rush back and will be trying somewhere new next time as we visit the area every year for Paultons Park. Also the attitude of staff towards our complaints were less than apologetic.

Had a nights stay at forest lodge, check in was quick and easy all staff were superb and really friendly. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was really comfortable! Had breakfast included the next morning which was continental and cooked. Had a full english.Very nice and cooked well however we did miss the buffet breakfast we had last time we stayed a few years ago as now we had to order a set breakfast. Overall a great stay, lovely polite staff and great atmosphere. Highly reccomend!

I booked this hotel through Booking.com for our anniversary, the hotel was in a great location in Lyndhurst town, walking distance to shops. They were really dog friendly and fur a small fee per dog they supplied a bowl , mat , towel and a bag of homemade doggie treats in our room for our 2 dogs. The staff are really chatty and friendly and loved making a fuss of our dogs even going the extra mile to give them both some sausage from the kitchen at breakfast. Room was lovely and cosy , bed comfy and a big corner bath too , loved the cellar too as the floor was nice and cool fir our dogs and had a big screen tv on the wall that allowed us to watch the rugby World Cup which pleased my husband. Would definitely visit again .

Stay at the Forest lodge Hotel October '23, staff very friendly and helpful. Location was good, opposite the New Forest, Lyndhurst was five minutes walk away to the shops etc.. Overall a good stay and a lovely weekend.

Great 3 night break in Forest Lodge. The hotel is based in a lovely location, really quiet but quick to walk into Lyndhurst and short drives to lots of lovely locations in the New Forest for walks. Good sized car park and nice planting around entrance to hotel which made us feel really welcome. Really friendly and helpful staff - we appreciated a call before our trip from Nicky( Nicki?) to confirm our trip details. Special thanks to Nicky(Nicki?) and Michelle on Reception and Kelly in the dining room, who all gave us outstanding service, but all of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Meal in the 1820 restaurant was really good and there are lots of local places to eat too. The breakfasts were delicious - I'm vegan and there was a really good and varied choice for me and lots of plant milk choices too. It was really good to have breakfast buffet food but also a hot breakfast choice cooked to order. Our room was a really good size with plenty of space for us and all our swimming and hiking gear! The most comfortable pillows I've ever slept on and really comfortable beds. The pool was fantastic - a really good size for a hotel pool and a lovely temperature - it was great being able to have an early morning and late evening swim and the pool and facilities were really clean (the pool was open from 7am to 10pm). There are lots of great areas to the hotel which feels bright and spacious - a quiet lounge and a games room in the cellar as well as a well-stocked bar all of which we enjoyed using. The temperature in the hotel was perfect - lots of fresh air which was really good. We've stayed in loads of places in and around the New Forest over the years, but have found our perfect hotel! We returned home feeling really relaxed and refreshed and are really looking forward to returning to Forest Lodge in 2024. Thank you everyone for making our trip so special.

We stayed here a few years ago and had a lovely, clean room. Sadly, this time, the room was not clean at all (I could have written my name in the dust on the light shade). Carpets were worn and wrinkled. Bathroom was in need of repair (sealant/woodwork, constantly running cistern, shower not much more than a dribble). The cleaners failed to fully service our room 2 days on the trot leaving us with no tea bags, milk or clean cups for the next morning and towels not renewed. Food quality is average at best, but overpriced for what you get. Most guests seemed to eat at local pubs rather than the hotel restaurant. Despite it's great location for access to the New Forest and local attractions, I won't be staying here again unless some major improvements are made.
