“So impressed & refreshing to be served by the young lady behind the bar who actually knew about the real ales, offering the opportunity to taste what was on offer. As ever we all ate a gorgeous ploughman’s, my favourite is the bacon quiche totally yummy ?”

“Should have been a 4 star review but let down by taking 80 to get the food after arriving at the restaurant. However the food was amazing, such a delicious variety of cheeses and meats. We had a sharing board for 6 shared between 7 and there was plenty to go round. Asked for extra crackers and they were very accomodating for one of our party who needed gluten free. Wines were great too”

“We stopped at this pub for a quick drink while out walking. The food going to other customers looked amazing so we decided to give it a try thr following day... that day was today and OMG what a meal. We all agreed, there was 4 of us, we were all impressed with our meals, the portion sizes are large, the taste and presentation was just amazing. The price well worth it. Definitely worth a try. We had fish and chips and chicken burger..... not one of us finished our meal but not one of complained about a single thing.
Thank you to The staff at the Mailman but especially TO THE CHEF amazing, this pub has an amazing chef in you..... I think you deserve a pay rise, you are well worth it.....”

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tucked away in the heart of the New Forest, The Sir Walter Tyrrell is a true hidden gem. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a perfect mix of rustic charm and friendly service. The pub has a great selection of drinks and the staff are more than happy to recommend something if you're unsure. The food is exactly what you'd hope for—hearty, fresh, and full of flavour. The full English breakfast is a must-try! What really sets this place apart is the setting. Surrounded by countryside and often visited by wild ponies and deer, it’s a lovely spot to relax whether you’re sitting in the sunny beer garden or inside the very authentic dining area. It’s also a fantastic venue for events—car meets, live music evenings, and community gatherings are always well organised and welcoming. There's plenty of parking and it's very family- and dog-friendly too. Highly recommended whether you're passing through or planning a day out in the forest. A proper pub with proper character”

“Stopped in during a cycle ride. Staff were excellent and kind. Snack lunch of smoked salmon baguette and chips was excellent. Toilets were clean. Quite a few other cyclists mixed with locals gave a nice atmosphere. Will definitely return in the future.”

“Great pub, lovely warm greeting, friendly staff. Food typical of Greene King managed house, very tasty but not particularly special. Beer is well kept, as you would expect. Dog friendly and masses of parking.”
