Decided to have one night away at a pub in the New Forest so opted for The Barn in New Milton. On arrival (check in at 3) we found the place locked up and in darkness with no staff on site. After walking around we found someone at the back of the property who told us the place was closed and there were no bookings for that night. There was also a strong smell of Cannabis in the air. After a while another member of staff did arrive who finally found our booking and checked us in! The venue advertised a bar and restaurant, this was the case but it opened at 3 and closed at 6 with no food just bar. Was also advertised as having breakfast for 2 the next morning however this also didn’t happen as they had no chef and when we got up in the morning the whole place was locked up and no staff in sight! Had to find breakfast somewhere else! We also found that there was nobody on site overnight (this I believe is illegal). Nobody to check us out, ended up leaving keys in hallway. The room was generally clean and tidy but I think the rest of the place needs sorting out! Will not be visiting again!

Lovely little place, nice atmosphere and staff were very polite & on the ball. Comfy room although the bed was too hard for my liking. Would stay again though.

Great location to stay to visit the New Forest. The room was clean and on the large side. The continental breakfast started at 8am. We enjoyed the stay.

Booked this last minute and I understand it is new management and just started to do food. Really lovely staff and an absolutely beautiful building. Main course was fine and value for money and dessert was lovely. Well worth a vist. Dog friendly and young waiter was sooo friendly and loved our dogs.

Unfortunately we have just returned from an overnight stay at this establishment. Everyone was helpful on arrival but facilitated where all closed at 6pm. This morning we met another couple who could not find anyone around and the dining area for breakfast was locked. They left without breakfast. We continued to knock on all entranced doors which where locked to no avail. My husband then saw an emergency contact number which was answered by a young lady who was not due to start work until 9.30am. She said she would get to us as soon as possible. We then realised we were at the establishment on our own. God help if there had been an emergency. This was not a good experience and we will not be returning.

Such a shame that rather than embracing a community spirit by letting local families use their parking facilities for their children's Sunday morning football, probably benefiting from sales of coffees and breakfast items, with the potential to welcome them back later for lunch or drinks, they prefer to install parking control measures to shoo them away and fine them. What a short sighted attitude and one I suspect more likely to actually harm their business. I fir one will not be putting my business their way in future!

Popped in here earlier with my family and I will never go back! Poor service, terribly run staff and business! Over priced and even got ripped off! What a waste! Whoever the owner is seriously needs to consider selling if anyone would buy it! Totally run into the ground! And you can clearly tell why as soon as you step in there no one cares! Such a shame as in the right persons hands it could be amazing!

Met a friend here for a few glasses of wine and we decided to order a pizza which looked good after watching others tuck into one on a table nearby. Big mistake as I have never been so ill before in my life! I should have said something when we discovered it was not cooked properly really but didn’t think anything of it after a few vinos and a rare night out from the kids! Shame as I won’t be returning and won’t be encouraging anyone to go here!

I held a business meeting here, midweek evening. We shared some pizzas (which were the best around) and had drinks. It was quiet, staff were very friendly and helpful and could t do enough for us. Perfect for what we needed and I will definitely be returning.

A delightful establishment for food, liquid refreshment and lodgings. If you are just trading through it's open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. May be booked for private events, too.

Second time at this venue staying one night. What a come down on last year. Took 45 mins standing around waiting to get booked in, then staff not knowing what they were doing, and chatting with friends making it difficult to see who was staff or not. No management to speak of, absolute mayhem. Embarrassing for our guests (table booked for 11), not to have items on the menu, (Ribs / Ham). Egg, ham and chips came out ass four fried eggs and chips, and the alternative to ribs being a small portion of lasagna. 100% will never return here again. Plenty of other welcoming venues in the area to choose from. Room was just acceptable, but overpriced.

Visited for breakfast. Price wasn't really warranted by the quality of food. Bacon and beans had obviously been sat under a hot lamp for a period of time and the eggs were burnt around the edges. Service was good though. Not sure I'd revisit.
