Food was delicious. Manager Grace and Barry were very nice and Cameron made the burgers really

From the moment my wife and I stepped into the Wimpy at Clarence Pier, Southsea, it was as though we were transported back to the fondest memories of yesteryear. The warm welcome we received from Barry, a staff member whose dedication to customer service was palpable, set the tone for what was to be an unexpectedly delightful dining experience. The atmosphere inside was buzzing with the comforting sounds and smells of a quintessentially British eatery; it was both familiar and inviting. As we settled in, the charm of the place began to work its magic on us. Barry, with a personable approach that is so often missing in today's fast-paced food scene, took the time to ensure our visit was more than just a meal—it was an event to be savoured. What stood out to us wasn't just the food or the setting, but the meticulous level of service. In a delightful break from the ubiquitous "order number" system, an unnamed team member, whose attentiveness deserves applause, brought our meals directly to our table. This personal touch was a breath of fresh air and a testament to the Wimpy Southsea team's commitment to going the extra mile for their guests. Now, let's talk about the meal that has lingered in our minds for over two decades—the Wimpy Quarter Pounder with Cheese. It was a moment of truth as we took that first bite; would it live up to our cherished memories? The answer is a resounding yes! The burger was just as we remembered: succulent, cheesy, and profoundly satisfying. Each bite was a reminder of what made Wimpy an icon of our younger days, and we were thrilled to see that neither time nor tide could wash away the quality we loved. Our visit to Wimpy in Southsea wasn't just a trip down memory lane; it was a reaffirmation of the timeless appeal of good food, made with care, and served with a smile. Barry and his team have not just maintained the legacy of the beloved brand; they've elevated it, delivering an experience that we will both treasure and undoubtedly return to.In an age where the dining experience often feels impersonal and rushed, Wimpy Southsea stands as a beacon of what it means to blend tradition with impeccable service. We cannot recommend it enough and eagerly anticipate our next visit.Wheelchair accessibility: I did not see a lift, we used stairs to reach the restaurant.

I used to come here when I was about 12, 7 years later it’s not as good as it was the food is so expensive, I paid £11.35 for a bendy and cheese

Well what a throw back in time. Haven’t been here since the seventies and thought I’d throw my back in time. Was dubious as I looked up the stairs from the penny arcades below, but I was so surprised when o got up stairs. The place was scrupulously clean, I mean the cleanest place I’ve ever eaten and to be honest not was I expected. The menu was old school, burger buns have changed and there is no Sunday list like there use to be. Staff were all polite and the food was cooked freshly, took around ten minutes. Go on, give it a go if your seventies or eighties kid you won’t be disappointed!

I arrived at Portsmouth Southsea Wimpy at 13.40pm on the 16/12/2023 with my sister and her son. I was served by the manager Barry for my first order and when I didn’t have money on my bank card to pay he then spoke to me in a rude attitude pointing to the card machine and was looking at his co workers and started to laugh at me making me uncomfortable. He then spoke to my sister in a rude away who was struggling with my nephew being upset which then made her to feel as doubting herself as a parent. When I asked where the toilet was I was completely ignored and had to follow the manager to ask again. My sister ordered the wimpy burger and the bread was stale and the food was cold. The Pepsi was also flat. Not happy at all Kind Regards Rachel

Dreadful food. Dried up….amazing how basic ingredients can end up tasting so bad. Unappetising, even the coffee didn’t taste like coffee. I would think the very pleasant staff are embarrassed to hand over orders to be honest. Worst food out we’ve ever had. Stay away! Wetherspoons is fairly close by…. no comparison…. good food, nicely prepared and a good price.

Terrible service and staff, was ordering food with my young son who was desperate for the toilet, he was refused use of the toilet by staff member (I think supervisor) until we had not only ordered and paid but our food had been cooked (which was a long time) I have never in my life been told when exactly I am allowed to use the toilet in a restaurant I have paid nearly £50 to eat at, I don't know why I didn't walk out then, thank you so much to the kind customer who heard and gave us her receipt before my son wet himself in the middle of the restaurant, absolutely outrageous and bizarre, we were also refused use of the till with cash because there apparently weren't enough staff members (there were 4 in an empty restaurant) by same rude older staff member (we think name was Barry) who then stood around the whole time chatting and doing absolutely nothing. Finally staff round the food including this same staff member had no hats or hairnets! Will never go again! Steer clear!

I’m glad I read the bad reviews after going otherwise it might have put me off, but we had a positive experience. Yes the food took a little while to come and it would have been nice if they’d have brought the food to us rather that shouting out a number, but my chicken burger was delicious. There were more fries than I could eat and they weren’t greasy at all. The strawberry milkshake was so good!

Food was disgusting the burger was dry and rubbery and the staff, to say lazy and ignorant would be an understatement, i tried to order food using cash and the woman behind the counter refused and told me to go use the kiosk, pure laziness considering they have a cash till AND a sign next to said till stating cash through the till. There was also a guy doing the fries, well picking up old fries from around the tray using tongs and chucking them back in to be packaged into individual ordersOh and let's not forget the best bit NOT DISABLED FRIENDLY yes they have a chair lift BUT you have to go up the stairs to get them to give assistance using the chair lift! NO TOILETS in the restaurant you have to leave your food to walk down the road, overall it was a disgrace of a service from this so called establishment. Don't bother going in here if you visit Portsmouth beach!

We had Wimpy in Germany before we had the other US-Hamburger-Chains. It was a time voyage. But today, the burger tasted too healthy: I cannot remember being bothered with lettuce and tomato in my childhood in Germany.

I believe the manager was very rude to customers when people were asking for the toilets. However the food was good and cooked fresh.Kid-friendliness: Somewhat
