Lovely staff but food luke warm and we were sat in the extension part of the pub and it was freezing- the radiators were cold so really not very convivial to a relaxed Sunday lunch . Very expensive tiny bottles of Prosecco at £10 each , don’t think I’ve paid that price anywhere, verging on the extortionate, although wine reasonably priced. Will not go back.

Didn’t live up to its reputation for us. There was a 70th birthday function going on so it was quite busy. Actually the buffet food at the party looked a damn sight better than what I had served to me. Our drinks were forgotten about so we had to order them again. The starter pork fitters were sodden with grease. And the colour of it was a sort of burnt orange and smell of old chip shop scratchings. Great shame because if done right it would’ve been tasty. The main was sirloin. 60% of it was chewy like rubber so not enjoyable at all. No side sauces are offered with the steak. Just chips and cherry tomatoes. In fact the side menu is practically non-existent. We were not offered a dessert so no idea and cannot comment here. We paid and left somewhat disappointed after hearing reasonable feedback on the place in the past.

I really enjoyed my visit to The Old Beams at Ibsley last Friday lunch time. It was very busy so was glad a table had been booked. Really pleasant pub with a lovely ambiance and good staff. I was there with my husband and friend and 2 golden retrievers and was made most welcome. My meal, scampi and chips and my companions meal of ham, eggs and chips was very tasty, hot and cooked to perfection. The cheesecake with berries was also delicious too. Very pleased with our meals and service. Would recommend. Probably best to book table first.

We go to this pub quite regularly with our dog and usually love it. I don’t know what happened today but the food was not as good as it is normally cold chips a single dob of cream with my lemon tart to be honest quite awful food today.

Took an age to get our drinks. Carvery not available. Staff pretty useless spent longer chatting amongst one another than serving customers. Took over an hour to get our one course lunch for four. Food average not good. If you couldn’t provide well for the hungry New Years Day crowd, don’t open. Simple as that.

Although it appears this venue may have had a few issues over the Xmas period we have to say we are regular visitors, especially for the amazing carvery Sunday lunch, and over the last 2 years have never had a bad meal. The food is always tasty and well cooked, the service fine even at busy times and all for a reasonable price. Roll on Sunday for our next visit.

We visited on the first night for just a drink. Staff were very welcoming. We sat in the corner by the pool table which suited us. A very helpful waitress asked if we wanted to sit by the fire she said it might be more cosy. We could see the same waitress being ultra helpful to diners that evening giving a good description of the food available. We went back the following evening for a meal and arrived early; we were hungry! Jacob took us to our table, but we asked to sit somewhere else which wasn’t a problem. We were served promptly. My food took a little longer which was stated on the menu. Our food was delicious! We were asked if would like to see the dessert menu. We wanted cheese board which wasn’t listed so Jacob checked with the kitchen if they could provide one for us. We were very lucky, they could prepare a cheese board which was provided to our table without having to wait too long. Overall, our experience was very positive. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, our food was tasty and good value. We will definitely return.

We were not welcomed. The staff not friendly. Drinks and coffees took forever to come. Told 3 times by different Staff that we would have moved at a certain time, tables not reserved. Will not be going there again it was an unpleasant experience.

Sadly not made to feel welcome in a respect, we are locals and had a group of family (11 of us in total) in for quiet drink after a walk. We were very quickly (after 20 minutes) told we needed to move, yet 20 minutes later the table wasn’t laid or reserved! We would have stayed and enjoyed time with family but we couldn’t have been ushered out of the pub quick enough.

Visited The Old Beams with a group from our apartments for Christmas lunch on 16th of December but have mixed feelings about my experience. The table looked beautiful , the staff warm and friendly, but I felt not enough staff to cope with the volume of people. Waiting time was long especially for people who ordered a main and dessert. The starter was very well presented, but the main course piled high dominated by a giant Yorkshire pudding - why can't small portions be offered, it is a shame to see so much food wasted. My husband and I then asked for a vanilla icecream we got one scoop each and we were charged £10. Think this is a bit over the top not quite sure if we will be returning in a hurry.

On arrival for a table booked for 5pm we were being rushed to order as last orders are at 5pm????? Why take a booking then? I asked what time they closed and was told as soon as we leave, i.e hurry up order, eat and go ? real shame as staff were nice and food was good, just overall experience ruined as our family get together was too short and we didn’t feel welcome. Therefore begrudge the service charge being automatically added to the bill. I would have preferred to have given that money to a deserving charity.

Really impressed by the quality of the food and the speed of service. Especially as it is Christmas party season . The staff are so friendly and attentive. Thank you for a great experience. Will be returning 100%.

6 of us for a Xmas Sunday lunch. For £18.95 - shocking! Cold food The manager clearly agreed as he took all 6 meals off our bill !!!

Surprisingly really good. Perhaps rather cynically expected standard cook chill pub food via a microwave but no! Started with really super friendly waitress, got us drinks quickly and took food order the moment we were ready. Ordered fish and chips and beef Stroganoff expecting Mr Ping (microwave) pre-cooked stroganoff. Nothing like it. Absolutely beautiful packed with flavour with New Forest mushrooms and slightly pink beautifully tender beef. Wow. I rarely give such an acclaim but it was excellent and would be happy to be served this dish in any restaurant. The fish was really good, crisp non oily batter and cooked to be flakey but moist. Chips super fluffy inside and crisp outside. Simple food but so often cooked poorly but not this. The Beams doesn’t have a cook, they have a Chef who cares about the food they produce obviously prepared and cooked fresh. Well done, great food, lovely waiting staff, ice atmosphere. Brilliant.
