Only one person was serving and it was very busy, and then they decided to have a fag break!!!One table of about ten was very noisy, and I was struggling to hold a conversation with my son, who I was down for the weekend visiting.

Finally made it to The Gate after living a short drive away for nearly a year...Nice place, good selection of keg and cask ales, nice crowd, welcoming and knowledgeable barman/landlord ?

Great real ale and good beer place to enjoy a good drink. My wife reckons that I might need a beard and a dog to fit in, but I think she was being a bit harsh or judgemental. Beers on offer were all good, some guest beers and I think some regulars.

The best craft beer bar in the area. 2 or 3 cask beers and 5 or 6 craft taps. Also serves Guinness, Czech Budvar and cider. A small intimate bar.

Landlord is invariably sat amongst his customers and can provide an in depth knowledge of the multitude of beers they serve.
