“Really nice place to go for relaxing, friendly environment. Two ladies behind the counter who chatted the whole time and made the place seem very homely - like you were having a cup of tea and a sandwich round a friend’s house. The walls are decorated with Pompey memorabilia which is fun to have a look at - I’m not from Portsmouth but found it all quite interesting. Newspapers are laid out on the side so you can just pick one up and have a read.No nonsense style food and drink. I asked for a bacon sandwich and there’s lots of types of bread to choose from, then I had option of adding sausage and egg and asked what type of sauce I wanted - but it’s still excellent value for money even with all this extras and a cup of coffee. The place is clean and you have condiments and extras on your table ready. Lovely place to go if you’re free on a morning and want a nice breakfast.”

“Arrived at opening and enjoyed quick and efficient service throughout our visit. Breakfast was tasty and hearty, but very standard for this type of establishment. Would visit again, but wouldn’t rush back.”

“We went at lunchtime and the menu had some lovely fish dishes on it. However, the food went cold very quickly as it was served on cold plates. It tasted delicious and was quite reasonably priced. However, the hard floors and strong winds outside made this a little noisy as it has curtain sides to it in the winter and is probably open in the summer.”

“Been visiting this cafe once or twice a week for a few years now, generally it is staffed by permanent staff assisted by temporary youngsters during holiday periods. My favourite order is beans on toast with cheese topping, title says it all. I have been on days when it’s so busy that management laid on extra tables outside and kitchen staff doing their best in very pressing conditions. Many times it was so busy that when we found a table recently vacated but not cleared or cleaned, due to pressure the staff were under, I’ve cleared plates to counter and have generally been acknowledged with a thank you. My personal experience is that I have found staff cheerful and helpful and will continue my regular walking visits.”
