We had the best experience at Desi old Indian cafe. We’re not from Portsmouth but whenever we do come here we always come back to this place. This is the third time we’ve been here and we are always impressed with the service and food. Everything is always done with such care and the atmosphere is always so friendly and welcoming. We were served by Srushti and she really was so helpful and so polite. Can’t fault her service at all. We will defo be back again. Thanks to Shruti and the team :)

I came to Nicholson’s on Sunday evening for dinner and it was one of the best decisions i have made recently! The food was exceptional, especially the Albonligas. I was also especially impressed with the service and kindness of the staff who served me and my wife. Especially from a blonde server! She ensured that the service i received was swift and enjoyable. She was also really polite and made my evening. The drinks were also especially tasty! Compliments to the bar man! The experience has really left a good impression on me and couldn’t recommend it enough! Will be returning?

The Crispy Cod

On my visit of 8th May 2026, I had a small cod and mushy peas.
The cod was absolutely delicious and the best I've had for a long time.
The mushy peas were average and maybe a little overpriced at £2.10.
However, the most amazing thing is they have scraps/bits. This is the first chip shop south of Watford Gap I've come across that does scraps. Well done The Crispy Cod.
I will certainly be visiting again.

Just got back from this bar, luckily very local to the b&b we used to go to the Portsmouth naval museums. Walked straight past at first as was on the wrong side of the road, but caught sight of folks sitting on benches outside. It was 6pm on a Tuesday, but busy inside, cool dude type barstaff. It offered all interesting brews, but as this is one of the first sunny days of the summer I went for a cider, which was lush! Pint and half, plus crisps, £8 (March 26). Busy downstairs but sat in window upstairs no problem, -although stairs steep. 80s/90s indie jukebox, quiet in background. People watching the chippy opposite and lip reading traffic merging from side roads to the main, with pedestrians and cyclists everywhere. Simple joys. Just us and a young couple with baby upstairs. Nice chilled place for a drink. Enjoyed it.

Me and my partner went here for valentine's day. We ordered the Singapore fried noodles, braised pork, beef in black bean sauce, Kung Pao chicken, salt and chili prawns and steamed chicken dumplings. Visited this undiscovered gem for lunch today with my father. We both had regular cod and chips with a drink each. Can quite honestly say this is the best cod and chips I've ever eaten and my father agreed (and he's 88 this year so plenty of meals to compare against). Batter was perfect, not greasy but light and crunchy and flavourful. The same quality for the chips. We took the time to personally tell the chef and won't hesitate to visit again. Service was also superb, shown to a table straight away. All staff appeared smart, friendly and helpful

We visited El Greco yesterday for lunch and had such a lovely experience.

We sat outside and made the most of their outdoor seating area, which was really pleasant and perfect for a relaxed lunch. The atmosphere felt calm and enjoyable, especially with the fresh air.

We also went for their meze offer (£60), which included 3 dips, 2 pita breads, Greek salad, 4 meze dishes (our choice: we went for 2 calamari, tarama salata and shrimps) and a choice between a bottle of wine or two cocktails. We had limoncello and Aperol Spritz to drink, both refreshing and perfectly made. You can order also a special Greek cocktail, which is authentically Greek, you just need to ask the staff about it! Especially, if you’d like to try ouzo! Keep in mind the portions are a really good size. We additionally ordered souvlaki gyros. It’s needless to say how nice that was! We had an orange dessert as well!

The food was exceptional. Every dish was full of flavour, fresh and beautifully presented. The variety made the whole experience even better and there honestly wasn’t a single thing we didn’t enjoy.

The owner was friendly, attentive and made us feel very welcome throughout.

Overall, such a great spot for a relaxed lunch with amazing food and drinks. We’ll definitely be coming back!

It was such a pleasure working with these amazing creators on our wedding cake and desserts. They were so friendly, we had so much fun coming up with the vision for the day when we went to do the consultation, and oh boy did they deliver on the day! The set up looked incredible with Chris' log stand, the cake looked amazing and was exactly what we wanted, the details incredible! And the flavours! Everyone we spoke too who tried any of the cakes raved about how delicious they were, and we can confirm! Both layers of the cake were beautifully made and delicious and Chris even made sure to make a gluten free cupcake and keep it seperate for my friend with an allergy! Would 100% recommend this company, definitely would use them again for an event!

Really good fish and chips from this very traditional style chip shop. Having tried quite a few of the local options, this is now the best I’ve had in Portsmouth / Southsea. Great service and very reasonably priced. I definitely recommend. Small cod and chips with mushy peas cost £11.50 (cash only)

Very nice freshly cooked cod in a crispy batter and amazing chips - perfectly cooked (double cooked and crisp just how they should be). Large portion sizes. The only thing I didn’t much like was the mint flavoured mushy peas - tasted wrong to me but some people must like them. I’ll definitely be back but will give the peas a miss next time!

The fish and chips here are consistently the best I’ve ever tasted. Everything is cooked freshly and stays hot in the wrapping. Crisp batter, soft fish and the chips are cooked to perfection. The owners are friendly and welcoming and have run the business themselves for years. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for fish and chips.

Visited last Friday whilst we were on a visit to Southsea and we smelt it first (which is how we found it… ?) We both had the full Gyros experience with a cheeky Mythos and it was excellent. Cannot fault it at all and considering it was on the seafront, great value as well. Wish more fast food places were like this, lovely staff as well. Well done, folks!!!

The thin crust pizza is worth the price (Pepperoni with added toppings~ £15 approx.)
The chicken wings are a must try I would say!
The garlic bread is not up to my expectations. I thought it was a crispy one.
Overall, if you are searching for a good pizza then this is worth it.

I can't describe how surprised we were by the authentic taste. I've been living in the area for the past 3 years because of uni, and now stay here because of work. This is my holyland. I order once a week as a treat and they always knock it out of the park. When I would order in person, the people behind the counter would recognise me and were friendly with me. Now I have fun memories with the delivery people who know me. My only *maybe* criticism is that sometimes the fried chicken can dry up a little near the end of the day but I think thats more on me if I order around 9pm. I feel so lucky to have a place like this local to me

Just spent the afternoon at one of the South Coast Cookery workshops held in the Deli. Amazing! Dan was an excellent teacher and super helpful. The set up is great, with enough space for everyone to get involved and still easily see what is going on. We've walked away with some beautiful fresh pasta for dinner and lots of tips for trying it again at home. Would highly recommend the classes as well as the Deli, where we had a lovely coffee before the class started. Thank you so much!

WOAH, ok, so I had a 3 meat roast tray, and my pals had their own roasts, washed down with a selection of drinks that suited all of us!

My mouth is watering just thinking about it, I HAD to leave a review! That was the BEST roast I have ever eaten. Every bit of food on that plate was absolutely packed with flavour. The pureed parsnip, the agave honey carrots, the meats just fell apart, the yorkys, the gravy. Honestly, all of it was UNREAL.

There was enough for two servings, I didnt even need sauce, it was something else, massive thank you, and see you again this Sunday ?
