We had the chef's table teppanyaki, it was a fun experience and the food was quite nice, but you really just don't get enough of it.The room is downstairs and is a little dreary compared to the upstairs dining space. The starters were a little sad-looking, fine but nothing special. For main you get 3 "portions" of meat, which is half-portions at best, and a bit of rice. Everything cooked well in front of us, but not enough of anything. Salmon was very tasty. We then had a couple of scoops of ice cream for dessert.I guess £45 is kind of a standard price for this kind of thing, but I didn't feel that it was great value.Apparently the normal menu is very good and I would give that a try if it meant sitting upstairs and getting more food options.

Excellent gluten-free accommodation for myself as a coeliac. The teppanyaki was both entertaining and delicious - the prawns especially were amazing! Lots of fun and nice service too.Dietary restrictions: Excellent awareness of coeliac cross-contamination risks and gluten free sauces for everything

I’ve been here a few times and the food is so, so amazing and really fresh. Both myself and people I have been with love it!They also do takeaway which is handy. The service has always been really great and welcoming.

This might pass for Japanese food if you usually buy it from a service station fridge.

Went downstairs for teppanyaki meals. Worth the wait, the skillful chef started with a stunning performance. Salads or appetizers is a must if you are hungry, as the grilled food may arrive 20mins later.Pan fried rice and food were cooked in front of us. We enjoyed the whole experience of pleasant scent and taste.

A bit of a shame really. This was our third visit to the Chef's table and like the other reviewer who'd been three times (with whom we are totally unconnected) this failed to meet our expectations. When we arrived, we went downstairs as there was no-one on the front desk and waited by the bottom of the stairs for at least a couple of minutes until someone welcomed us. We had no issue with the speed of the service but felt it a little brusque and impersonal. Certainly, when the menu was explained to us both for mains and desserts it was all very perfunctory, no smile, nothing. The chef, whom we'd not had before was not really firing on all cylinders and there was a lack of occasion which we'd not experienced on our previous visits. I felt he was going through the motions something he had learned by rote and we were getting the minimum required. On our two previous visits we've had a great chef - I think he was on the other table. The quality and taste of the food was not an issue. Also, my pet peeve - don't clear the plates as soon as one of us have finished - wait until we all have. We're not in a rush, neither should you be. No-one showed us out or gave us a "goodbye, thanks for coming". The place is looking quite tired downstairs too and no longer seems to be mostly Japanese run. Needs a bit more love all round.

This is the third time that we have visited The Chefs table at the restaurant, and this was for a birthday. As a party of 9 we were spending a reasonable amount of money (£400) on the occasion and were anticipating a fun and interactive experience. Sadly this proved not to be the case:the chef was very unenthusiastic and it felt very much as though he was going through the motions. There was very little 'theatre', and as soon as the meal was cooked it was clear that the staff were keen to be away. In fact most were sitting ready to go home at nearby tables at just after 10 O'clock. The whole experience felt very unwelcoming and there was no attention to detail, or genuine care that we had a good evening. It was most disappointing
