Jd wetherspoons... don't go to any if them if you want service, an atmosphere or decent good or drinks. I avoid them at all

We went for a few drinks before going out for dinner, all staff were polite and friendly. The bar and seating area could do with a freshen up as it’s looking tired, would recommend as the pub did have a nice atmosphere.

Usual Wetherspoons, great beer at fair prices and acceptable food for the money. We visited en route to Southampton Cruise Terminal just before xmas. Although all of Winchester was rammed, we managed to find a parking place and a table here. It was very busy but our food arrived piping hot within the time stated when I ordered. We all know it's not haute cuisine but a reasonable meal for the money.

Went there for a Christmas breakfast with 4 mates. Service was bang on, particularly the bar staff and it had a lovely friendly feel about the place. Great work.

It was very busy due to it being the Friday before Christmas. But the service was good, and a nice choice of drinks. Food was ok and arrived pretty quickly.

Don’t go there if you aren’t British, THEY ARE RACIST.Last Saturday some friends and I decided to have a nice day trip to Winchester and stopped for lunch at this local. We ordered some dishes with a beer included in the price. They brought the plates with the beers and they thought we looked young enough for showing our Spanish IDs.We politely showed them and they started to scratch the birth date, bend them and use a ultra violet light. The waitress called her colleague and they continued manipulating them more and more aggressively. The rest of the diners started to look at us and we felt really embarrassed.Suddenly, one of the waitress TOOK MY FRIEND´S ID WITHOUT ANY CONSENT AND DISAPPEARED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES while the other one kept scratching our IDs carelessly. After that, they said our IDs weren’t valid to proof our ages since they looked fake and they weren’t in their list of valid IDs (they refused to show that list). We tried to convince them to accept other things like our visas but they refused.I am 26 and definitely look older than 18, but she said that she could’t check if I was over 25. After that and with our permission, they took our driving licenses and accepted to serve the beers. One of my friends doesn’t have a driving license and the manager offered a soft drink instead of the (more expensive and already paid) beer. My friend refused and asked for a refund but the manager said it was up to her manager and the refund was NOT guaranteed. When they came back with the beers, the waitress put them on the table very aggressively and spilled some of it on my friend’s trousers. Far from saying sorry, she ran away. Two British girls sat next to us and ordered wine, but no one requested their IDs despite looking much younger than me.Since they refused to offer us a good service for not having an UK ID, I can say this was a racist offence made by the staff, specially Elisa, Sam and Laura. Our Spanish IDs are approved by the UK Home Office as a valid proof of age, so companies located in this country MUST accept them and offer the same service to foreign people than locals and avoid this humiliation in front of hundreds of people.

I’ve never expected to have a racist attack by Wetherspoons staff, but it happened:We ordered fish and chips with a beer and we had to show our IDs. They started to manipulate our IDs aggressively, scratching the birth date and using ultra violet lights to check if they were fake. After some doubts about their veracity, she called another colleague and continued questioning our age creating an embarrassing situation in front of the rest of the diners. Suddenly, one of them took with my friend’s ID without any consent and disappeared for around 5 minutes. Then they said that our ID looked fake because they weren’t able to properly check with the lights. We offered our Visa as proof of age but they refused to accept it since they weren’t in the company’s list of valid proofs of age, saying that they just accept UK IDs or passports. After that, we requested to see that list and they refused to do so.At least, we showed a Spanish driving license and they accepted but one of us didn’t have it and had to change it for a soft drink despite having paid for a more expensive product. The answer of one waitress was: “the refund depends on my manager’s decision”.When they came back with the beers, the waitress put them on the table in a rude way, spilling some beer on my friend’s trousers. After this, two british girls (looking under 25) sat next to our table and ordered some wine. No one requested their IDs.The conclusion I got from this is that the people working here is RACIST, since they don’t accept IDs from other countries even being legally approved by the government as a valid proof of age. This is the worst pub I’ve been to since I am living in the UK! The waitresses and manager names are Sam, Laura and Elisa, respectively

I understand that weatherspoon is cheap and cheerful but when an adult portion comes out and is ridiculously smaller than a child's makes it feel very much like a rip off ! As for the quality I would have done better searching in the bin of an abattoir !! The place is dirty , we had to clean our own table off ( also wipe it down ) and on top of that waited nearly an hour for terrible food that was sent back. Upon speaking with who I assume is the manager about this , he was uninterested and very very arrogant but did offer a brownie for compensation . Bit of a joke in all honesty. So I will not be entering another, so I can only advise to steer clear of the Winchester weatherspoon.

Staff are very patient and friendly. It can get busy...the toilets are downstairs which you do not see in many weatherspoons. It is very close to the town centre which is useful. They have mango chutney in a bottle which is unusual for a weatherspoons.

Disappointed with the menu. No steaks, chilli, steak and ale pudding and only simple curries. Great if you want a burger! Our shared pizza was nice, but we wanted a proper meal.

Busy as always, and staff just keeping on top of it. As things calmed down service did not improve! Very scruffy staff who didn’t seem very interested in their jobs. One chap had long hair that was not tied back at all and he kept playing with it and then delivering food and drinks. It took 10 mins to get mugs and then later it took 10 mins to get a Guinness and there were plenty of staff behind the bar, and they were not busy. It’s a shame because we love Wetherspoons and visit them all around the country. Not one of the best here sadly.

We popped in for a pint. Now I like a ‘spoons, and I know that there is a bit of a gulf between them and a spot of fine dining, especially in Winchester where the average punter might want a cheap pint with their lobster. But honestly, this place just doesn’t do it. The main issue is getting served. Unless you’re a local lad, you’re at the back of the queue. It’s really annoying to get ignored FIVE times by the bar staff, especially as those who barged in barely seemed out of puberty and were not challenged for ID. In fairness, maybe the bar staff knew them, but I didn’t see a single ID challenge whilst being ignored.

This wetherspoon has the best staff who serve the most delicious food, however, the girl behind the bar (long blonde hair) is extremely rude. She ignored me as if I wasn’t standing there and came back after 5 minutes to ask what I want. She tried charging me extra amount for the dip which was already included in the deal I opted for and when I highlighted this to her, she said she can’t do anything about it because that’s how it is but when she saw my persistence she asked one of the managers who then told her that the dip really is included in the deal. Without any apology she said “yeah it’s included” and left, I again waited for her thinking that she’s gone to get the dip but that wasn’t right as she came back and rudely asked me to go back to my table as someone will bring it there. This place deserves a five star rating for its staff excluding the girl behind the bar.
