Lovely and charming authentic thatched cottage. Exactly what we were hoping for during our English holiday. Would definitely recommend. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable with nice touches like hot water bottles waiting for us in the bed. The bathroom was also nicely done and spacious.Fiona was very welcoming and accommodating and we enjoyed talking with her during breakfast. Best of luck with everything!

We thoroughly recommend The Moats. Fiona and Peter made us extremely welcome, the room was clean and the bed very comfortable and shower excellent. We enjoyed the fresh eggs for breakfast. Lovely part of the world to explore.

Proceed with caution. The lanes are quite narrow, this is an agricultural area after all. Good directions to the property though. Sadly that is where the positives end. My wife and I made a booking to visit relatives. On arriving at the property we were told there was no record. While my wife tried to find the relevant details I was told to leave the property. My wife found the phone record but the woman said she was not interested in any proof and accused us of making it up! We asked to speak to the owner. At this point the woman started to shout and tell us to leave otherwise she would phone the police. Somewhat bewildered we drove into Ledbury and stayed at The Feathers Hotel. Quite a conversation in the bar..our experience was not an isolated one and a reference to the Basil Fawlty of Ledbury was made. I don't like to write negative reviews but seeing the reviews by others since made me think differently on this occasion. I sincerely hope the host reads this and learns from it.

Fiona is a very friendly, accommodating host, who did her best to make sure we were comfortable and had anything we needed. The en-suite bedroom was well equipped and there was the choice of twin beds or King-size with both together.

This review is not about the place is about the HOST. I did not get to stay there because of the weird requirements of that person. After being charged the £80 the host requested a photo of my COUNCIL TAX BILL or UK DRIVING LICENSE. I am a foreign citizen, and I live and work in UK, but I do not have any of these documents. I have travelled the whole Europe and the UK, and everything an acomodation asks you at check in is a PHOTO ID, and maybe the card you paid with. Asking what am I suppose to do now, she said "You should read the FINE PRINTS". Very helpful. Her OWN UNIQUE FINE PRINTS that does not exist anywhere else in the world.

BEWARE!!! WE WERE RIPPED OFF We pre-booked and pre-paid here as all the hotels were full. We asked for a 2.30 admission as we had a meeting booked, the response was positive and we arrived as agreed. There was a gate across the entrance and a “closed” sign so we phoned and were told that we would have to return in the pitch dark at 6.30, but this would have made us late for the meeting so an earlier arrival was agreed. When we returned we were confronted by some old Brummy woman who couldn’t be bothered to introduce herself and subjected to a vindictive rant about something that was totally irrelevant before she refused to admit us. We left, went our usual hotel in Ledbury, explained our predicament and apparently this happens regularly, The Moates would seem to have a bad reputation locally. Fortunately, they managed to find a room for us. Knowing that we were in a meeting, she then booked us as a “no show” at 8.30 and trousered our money – nice one! No doubt she will respond by using her usual tactic regarding previous multiple negative reviews by claiming that we never stayed there which is true, it follows that you can’t stay at a venue where you have been refused admission! We wouldn’t normally book into a Bed and Breakfast any more than we would book into a night shelter but this opportunistic, money-grabbing practice reflects very badly on honest B&B traders who are working hard to provide a proper service.

The Moats is a lovely cottage near to Ledbury which has numerous top quality places to eat and lots of places to explore. We loved visiting Hellens and Eastnor Castle. Our annex was very private and comfortable and the shower room is spacious with loads of hot water. We would definitely recommend a stay here!

Awesomely sensitive restoration of a 18th century property. Beautiful croissants for breakfast. Cracking hosts. Would love to return.

This is a great place to stay, both in The Moats (main house B&B) & the one bedroom house. My wife & I stayed in the one bedroom house, the location was lovely & remote. Getting up close & personal to the donkeys, geese & chickens was a real treat. The house whilst small was perfectly adequate for the two of us and very well equipped. Members of our family also stayed within the Moats (main house) at the same time and they found the accommodation to be excellent and Fiona was very friendly and helpful.

A beautiful room in an idyllic setting! The host couldn’t have been more accommodating and it was very handy, just a short drive to the local pubs for great food. The Thatched cottage was charming and even though you were in the owners house the room felt very private with its own facilities. It was a great base for exploring the Cotswolds and the breakfast was a lovely touch.

Myself and my friend stayed at The Moats B&B for a few days back in June to attend a local event called EMF Camp. This place was the perfect place to stay in a stunning little cottage. The host Fiona was delightful, and her fried French toast is NOT to be missed! The whole breakfast is a 10/10 delicious. Beds we’re comfortable, room was very clean and the shower was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with my hosts each morning before setting off for the event. I looked forward to breakfast daily and felt like I’d made a new friend by the end of the week.

Ripoff!!! Booked and pre-paid a 4 night stay to attend a friend's wedding celebration. Unable to meet the restrictive check-in times (6-8 PM only) the first night of our stay due to a wedding rehearsal dinner and when we attempted to check in or at least drop off our bags the next morning the owner refused to let us even drop off our bags, much less enter the property. We ended up having to find alternative accommodations with not even a partial refund. Avoid at all costs!!!

I stayed in the beautifully fitted out stockman's cabin in great comfort. It was so tranquil and peaceful to be away from the noise of modern life, with just the donkeys for company. I had everything I needed and self catering was easy.
