“Martins pond is an absolute pleasure to visit! It is a lovely, quaint, family friendly environment with accommodating staff who make you feel like part of the family. Whenever I have attended, I have been met with a warm welcome and no request is too much for Jude and the team. I could not speak highly enough of the establishment and those who represent it! I recommend the Sunday roasts - the best around!”

“After a re-visit when I shared my view of poor service, it has seem it was that single event. Service was good and helpfull. Food was good, and atmosphere pleasant. Am glad we took on a re-visit.Things to improve more space for dogs.”

“The restaurant itself has a nice feel to it, good lighting and designed well.Service to start was slow and had to ask for menus but it got better throughout the night. The food was the best part, all 3 courses were excellent. Steak was as good as I had hoped and the brownie was a great way to finish the night.Had a great table that suited for 5 friends to sit round and catch up.”

“Great pub! Not too busy, it was just right and had lovely atmosphere. Nice and clean, different areas for seating. Definitely one to go back to.”

“Lovely and welcoming vintage pub, literally set on the Grand Junction Canal through Berkhamsted and a genuine manually operated lock. As soon as the weather allows it, people come out to enjoy their drinks and the scenery. More tables seem to come out from the ground and soon, the path on the canal and the little area surrounding the lock become a lively informal terrace where everyone, including pets, simply enjoy being here, watching the narrow boats and the time go by.There is a large covered terrace as well for colder days and fresh evenings while the bar area, very cosy and warm, makes you want to seat there forever. The best is to come and check by yourself!”

“27/10/23: Hemel Hempstead Weekend: visiting friends John & Hazel for the weekend, myself Lynette & Bryan enjoyed a lovely relaxed pint here. We'd travelled to Berkhamsted for the afternoon. The weather was cold and crisp outside but the pub was warm and welcoming. Good service, good selection of craft ale.”
