We took advantage of the 50% off mains during January and booked a late afternoon table for dinner (Saturday 6th) The service and food was absolutely great. When we arrived the place was quite full so I had my doubts but we were not at all let down. A really nice treat to have the option of wine carafes instead of glasses / bottles went down a treat for us. Our starters and mains were flawless followed by the best sticky toffee pudding we have ever had, this was very kindly taken off the bill as we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. All in all a fabulous evening and we will definitely be back!!! We had fish soup, goats cheese tart, lamb roulade and stone bass (all divine!)

From the moment of arrival to the completion of our Highwayman experience it was perfect. From the initial greeting, the staff, the service and the food the whole time spent here was faultless…

I could wax lyrical about this place, or simply say -- you've got to try the food and enjoy the service. Simply stunning Chateaubriand, perfectly cooked, and sublime gorgeous flavour. This place was busy, two days until Christmas, yet the staff were calm, efficient, and phenomenal.Restaurant food, cooked well, served with a smile, in a friendly atmosphere.

Thought I’d take my wife for a quick drink in what looks like a nice pub. Large white wine and a pint of IPA, £19! It’s Berkhamsted not Paris. Won’t be going back. Oh and my nephew thought of me when he paid £16 for a gin and tonic the night after.

Great food, service and atmosphere- the host and serving team were very attentive, and they clearly have some skilled chefs in the kitchen. Splendid Sunday Lunch!

Dined here for our annual Christmas family get together. It was overall a very nice experience.Food very nice and service was great.Only downside for us was fighting our way through the barking dogs in the bar area to get to our table. Thankful the restaurant is dog free. Parking is available behind the pub and in the multi storey car park.

Highly recommended. Great food, friendly service, reasonably priced. Very busy so book ahead for a table. Quite noisy.

Good atmosphere and service. The roast was good but unfortunately the gravy was watery vegetable gravy which really makes a difference to a good roast dinner. If it wasn’t for the bad gravy I would of loved to have gone back as it was a lovely pub.

Lovely warm atmosphere, delicious pork ribeye and lamb roulade. Very yummy sticky toffee pudding with a special crisp on top. Friendly capable service. All at a price that didn’t break the bank. I’ve been before and will go again.

We visited as a family of 4, with 2 teenagers. I ate from the Christmas menu which was great value at £39.50 for 3 courses and coffee with mince pie. The others at from the main menu and all enjoyed the different dishes they had. The restaurant was busy but not too loud. It had a nice atmosphere, the staff were pleasant and happy. Very enjoyable evening.

Our third year in a row at The Highwayman for our local business Christmas party and it was as fantastic as ever! This is no small feat when the booking is 100 people too. From the start, Tristan and Bernadette went above and beyond to ensure the smooth running of the evening and were always there to help with whatever we needed. The team on the evening were really fun, friendly and attentive and we all had an amazing time. A shout out to the kitchen too for always cooking up a storm - the Christmas menu was really delicious (and all allergies catered for). My partner and I frequent the pub often and love going here. Whether it's for a cosy Sunday meal by the fire or a larger group booking or celebration; I cannot recommend it enough. Thanks so much guys and we'll be seeing you soon!

popped in for a drink before heading off to a local concert and impressed. It was about 5.30pm on a Saturday and busy, nice crowd and good atmosphere. As we left after about an hour it was starting to buzz. A slightly older crown generally, late 20's upwards and dogs welcome. We found a table on the raised area in front of the open kitchen. Plenty of food coming out that looked good but didnt eat. Would return when next in town for longer as a good spot for a lively drink.

Booked this please for our family annual get together for 14 people. We arrived early and were immediately shown to our lovely table at the back of the bistro. Drinks quickly arrived and we settled into our table. We had the set Xmas menu, food arrived quickly and was hot. We asked for a little break between mains and dessert and this was accommodated really smoothly. We didn’t feel rushed at all and took time at the end of the meal for coffees and liqueurs. Special mention to Magda, she was so warm, welcoming and brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and she really made the whole experience a great one. Thank you very much. X

Been here lots of times and yes its pricier than most but generally its pretty good, staff pleasant and efficient and the food has never let us down. So it was shock to find out that they charge for fizzy water out the tap, small thing but when you have spent £100 or more on dining being hit with this is just not on and is pure profiteering. Its a matter of principal now, no where else makes this charge where we go. Sort it out Highwayman or lose a regular customer.
