I’d stopped off for a quick bite late one Sunday and really enjoyed my meal with my other half. Went back last night after their menu’s had been revamped and had a completely different experience.Schwarma was flavourful but dry, salad was predominantly wet tomatoes and tasteless and after sending back some hummus as it tasted sour, we never got a new one.Our server albeit helpful was visibly upset when I presume the owner came in which ruined any service, and I’m frankly just going to avoid bothering coming back.What kicked my part of 4 altogether was the price. At nearly £100 for a meal that was sub par, we just won’t return.3/5 stars is about fair.

Absolutely loved Balagan! The shwarma was incredible - perfectly cooked and seasoned, with just the right amount of fat. The pita bread was fresh and fluffy, and the toppings were all delicious. I also tried the hummus, which was smooth and creamy, and the falafel, which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and fun. I would definitely recommend Balagan to anyone looking for a great Middle Eastern meal in Borehamwood!

This is the second time I ordered delivery, and the second time I’ve been blown away by the food at Balagan.I ordered extra meat in the shawarma and let me tell you - it didn’t disappoint. There was enough meat in there to feed the whole of Borehamwood! Portion size aside the taste was incredible.Then come the chips. Genuinely some of the best chips I’ve eaten. These aren’t frozen chips that have been left in the freezer for weeks. They’re clearly chipped from fresh potatoes and double fried, resulting in an almost sweet taste. They’re incredible.I really hope this business succeeds at a time when the hospitality sector isn’t easy.
Amazing food, but service needs improvement. A nice lady took my fiancée’s to take away order, and he stayed in the restaurant to order it. A man that seemed like the manager or owner came to the front and started being disrespectful. The type of attitude that was used can be considered at least disrespectful. Not going to detail more…Answer to the owner: Yes, you do not have this name because it was my fiancé that ordered. Don’t worry. The food is still very good. It’s a shame for the little incident.

Thank you to Zev, Cat and everyone at Balagan for making my birthday extra, extra special. We were spoilt in every way possible, food was flowing (and absolutely delicious), everyone was so well looked after, nothing was too much and we were treated like VIPs. You guys are wonderful and I’m so grateful. Suffice it to say 31 people left Balagan as very happy customers last night! ?????
