Restaurant has changed name to 1971, food is still excellent, definitely will be back

Now 1971. Some friends took us here this eve and it did not disappoint. Lovely interior and very attentive staff who managed that magical ability to appear when you need them then leave you alone when you don't. The menu has a good choice, mainly the old faves but with some chef signature dishes too. Food was very good. My coke was a bit flat though. I'd say this restaurant is a cut above the average. Only slight snag was a large table next to us was very noisy and made us want to leave, so we didn't check out the puds.

A poor experience on more than one occasion. Food ok but insolent behaviour from the the young unprepossesing looking waiter( black hair pronounced bald spot sadly for him rapidly enlarging) who derives great fun from laughing at diners behind their backs. A modicum of respectful behaviour would be welcome.

I thought the food was unremarkable in general, the lamb chop starter was about 2 mouthfuls for £9. Also was annoyed that was asked if we would like poppadums to which we said three but there was no mention of the dip/chutney tray which we would have declined, it was just added to the bill - £6. service was pleasant and attentive.

Awful for a takeaway order. Waited over an hour and twenty minutes for the order. Main was cold and naan bread soggy by the time it arrived, despite assurances from the restaurant. Plenty of other options I’ll use in the future

Best Indian restaurant and take away in Harpenden, hands down. Consistently delicious, never disappoints and the staff are wonderful.

First visit. Recommended. Close to Harpenden Train Station. Intimate restaurant, nicely decorated. 6pm booking, restaurant was moderately busy. Friendly, attentive service. I noticed they served individual mixer bottles, superior drink quality. Over 70 % of your drink is a mixer.Food was authentic and very enjoyable.Came away, eager to re-visit. Service charge Inc.

Good atmosphere ?? great service the waiters are very attentitive to yours needs. The loved their combination of dips they serve with the papadoms. I have not come across any other restaurant that does such a nice selection especially the diced onions in a flavourful sauce ? The main menu was good and I would definitely eat here again to try some of the other dishes. BTW the place is under refurbishments so you need to look beyond the lack of decor and not judge the place but it's food

Exceptional service and outstanding food! Came for dinner with friends and the team surpassed our expectations of Cafe Jeera. Food arrived promptly, cooked and served to a high standard! Special thanks to Nibras and team for taking care of us this evening! If you’re looking for authentic and classic south Asian food in Harpendem, definitely do go here! Thanks again and looking forward to coming back! :) 5/5 stars

Horrific food poisoning, I could barely move for four days and was in extreme pain at times. Tests were undertaken to work out the specific bacteria and the doctors concluded, seemingly confidently, that it was the meal I ate 2 hours before at Cafe Jeera (with the cheese sandwich at lunchtime being pretty safe). I went in to talk to them about it, as I felt they need to know they have an issue, but the guy I spoke to was disbelieving. He took my number to get me out of there, but the manager never bothered to call. There are a few good curry options in Harpenden, so I would avoid this place like the plague. Unless of course you are willing to put up lots of pain and a course of antibiotics to rapidly lose 3kg…

Friendly, attentive staff that treat us the same Everytime we visit with manners, courtesy and great deal of respect. Whenever we visit we look to try something new and Cafe Jeera never fails to deliver. Naz is always ready to listen to what we want and goes above and beyond to make sure we are looked after.
