Well what an awful shame! I had decided to take my friend to the "Folly" frequented by myself many times , beautifully refurbished, however freezing cold ! Insisted they couldn't use the log burner because no wood !! First then because no staff were fire trained ! Final lie... too smokey... staff were slow young & inept....this place used be fantastic!... wont bother again no wonder its empty.

Staff were nice and pub looked nice. However, it was very cold inside, and so was some of the food by the time it reached us. Food was ok, not worth the price.

We had a great meal, staff were excellent. Very friendly, great table service. We go to the Folley as and when, every time we visited we have had a good experience. Keep up the good

After vowing we would never eat here again a few years ago we visited just before christmas, after hearing there had been a refit and new staff. What a massive difference! Quite obviously a new chef as well. We decided to visit again tonight as our last meal had been so good and tonight didn't dissapoint. Lovely staff and yet again wonderful food! 2nd time that our steak has been cooked to perfection! So pleased that this beautifully placed local has upped its game and is back on the map! Booked again for a special occasion on Saturday. Thank you team Folly!

The road down to the folly inn needs resurfacing as it has lots of potholes. The waiter's were not very experienced in the way they brought the food. But other than that the food was very tasty!

Staying close by I walked along muddy river back that I now know is known for being dangerous . It was further to walk than I thought but I got there late afternoon - if walking there in winter best to go around 11 am as the light was not good . Service was excellent I took food away as was concerned getting back Food was on scale on 1-10 about 7 . More if a summer pub visit I feel

I met with a friend today and received fantastic service. A beautifully presented and tasty light lunch chosen from a nice selection of choices. It looks great since its revamp. Great setting. I’m just sorry that today I couldn’t afford to tip as it really would have been well deserved. A great choice of venue for just a drink, snack or meal or even that special occasion. Thankyou so much ♥️

Dropped-in for a New Year's Day lunch and had, what might just be, the best burger I've ever had. Service from Sam was great. The children's meals were good value with a roast priced at £4.99. Well done The Folly Team.

Went for Christmas lunch with 5 friends. Waited 40 minutes before starter arrived which was OK. Had to ask twice for welcome drink. Waited another 40-50 minutes for main course. What a disappointment!! Everything was already on plate - food was luke warm with no sprouts or roast potatoes. The veg had turned to mush and the parsnip was rock hard and had not been roasted. Long wait again for pudding. I really think that quality of service and food served should be put before profit. There were far too many people than could be catered for adequately. I must say however that the staff worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy. Customers were queing to complain when we left.

Lovely friendly staff, welcoming and super doggie friendly. Only stopped in for a drink and snacks this time… but will def be back. Place was festive, lovely open fire and staff very friendly and attentive. Can’t ask for more than that. Will definitely be back for food next time.

In the face of real adversity and some really miserable scrooges, the staff had to deal with zero managers on shift a medical emergency, a broken freezer and god knows whatever else they gave up their Christmas days for. I didn't have to cook or clean and it was well worth £65 on Christmas day for 3 courses and a large prosecco. The food was hot and tasty and served in good time by the hard working staff. Thanks and merry Christmas.

First visit since the refurbishment. It looks quite nice but now reminds me of the Sloop. Two out of three taps in the fancy ladies toilet hanging off the sink - what's with that?! Why haven't they been fixed or replaced? Outside seating looks good for a summer day.I can't comment on the food. I assume it's still Greene King, which generally reminds me of Wetherpoons quality but a lot more expensive. It would be nice if there was some play equipment in the garden for children.

The food was plentiful and hot and tasty, the staff were run ragged but tried their best in the face of adversity. If things not being up to your spec ruined your Christmas day then you need to get a grip and stay at home. Some people have spent Christmas under rubble in Gaza and kids are being bombed in their beds. We are lucky to have a Christmas ? .

£60–70 After being told to arrive for 2pm for 2.30pm meal we didn’t get seated till 2.50pm. First course served 3.15pm! Soufflé was scrambled egg. Christmas dinner was a child sized Sunday roast. Under cooked veg, No sprouts, one dessert spoon of watery mash. Greasy food. We had two children aged 3yrs and 8 mths who we’re getting restless we decided to leave at 4.15 without having desserts. One member of staff was rude to my son and husband on separate occasions. 2 members of our group didn’t get the Prosecco. Yes there was a medical emergency but that was going on when we left. We saw plenty of other people complaining and leaving before finishing their meals. I appreciate staff gave up their Christmas Day but our Christmas Day was ruined. Food was preordered so there was no excuse for running out. Perhaps senior management ( who no doubt enjoyed a perfect Christmas Day at home) should not put profit before quality next year and have just one sitting that is manageable for the staff. Or just don’t serve food on Christmas Day or close and give the poor staff a deserved day off.
