Mojac's Restaurant and Bar
10A Shooters Hill, Cowes"Not been there since it changed hands" "It was really good but haven't been there since the old people left" was what we were told. Well, as a real fussy bugger about my food, let me tell you we're very pleased that we went to Mojacs tonight as it was fab! We had the scallops and the king prawns as starters, both were cooked to perfection. I was hesitate about the apple and parsnip puree that came with the scallops as thought it would be too sweet but not at all. We had the lamb chops and the pork belly (from the specials board) and again, they were both delicious and cooked fantastically well. Don't take my word for it, try it yourself as you will not be disappointed

The Coast Bar & Dining Room
14-15 Shooters Hill, CowesAte at The Coast at the end of a day on the IoW. I loved it, mainly because it's primarily a fish restaurant. I chose the chowder, which was unlike any chowder I've had before. It was more like a bouillabaisse. The distinguishing feature (in common with the dishes that all my five friends had) was that there were mountains of seafood in the dish. If you go (and I recommend that you do, if you like fish), go hungry!

The Red Duster
37 High St, CowesSaw a menu for this restaurant in holiday home and thought it sounded good. Came across it when we were in Cowes looking for somewhere to eat and decided to try it. It lived up to expectations. We only had a main course and it was very tasty with good service and atmosphere.

Gurnard Press Bistro
31 Worsley Rd, CowesStrolled in 30 minutes before closing after finishing a job round the corner. Despite not serving food after 2pm. The staff at Gurnard Press Bistro pulled out all the stops, offered to make us some food even though they didn’t have too. A wonderful establishment and I am happy to support this local bistro! I would highly recommend this bistro to anyone passing by!Parking: Parking available on the street, could get busy during peak times.

Spice-Central-Cowes
107 High St, CowesThe food here is really worth the visit. A particular shout out for the chicken tikka which was served succulent and sizzling and the naan which was soft and pillowy. The beer (Cobra) was unexpectedly good value for a restaurant and they even had King Cobra which is rare. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful without being overly attentive.

The Victoria Tavern
62 Clarence Rd, East CowesWent in, big light, hate pubs with big lights but it was Nov and out of season, very quiet. Got chatting to two locals who recommended the food. Smoking Lobster Cowes
127 High St, CowesOur first night in Cowes, we arrived without booking a table for our evening meal. We thought we'd be unsuccessful as The Smoking Lobster looked very busy - but the staff were wonderful. They managed to find us a table near to the kitchen - away from the actual restaurant seating area and explained that we would have a short wait of 15 mins before ordering. We were more than happy as it was a much quieter table for us oldies. One of our party is allergic to fish (strange choice of restaurant you may think), but the other two in our party are fish fanatics and this issue was dealt with and without issue and we were informed that the peppercorn sauce with the steak that was ordered had been made using Worcestershire sauce (anchovies). Service was excellent - best night of our holiday. Shame it was our first night, because every restaurant has been compared with the Smoking Lobster ever since. Thanks guys for making our first night such a wonderful experience.

Compass Bar
10 High St, CowesDrinks were awesome, worth the price. Just a small shame the experience wasn’t, service isn’t the same quality as the drinks. considering there were only two tables at the time, even making cocktails seemed to be too much effort and trouble which considering this is a cocktail bar felt uncomfortable. Although incredibly nice drinks, had one and left to somewhere more welcoming.
