Food was very good (especially the chips) however when the food eventually came out there was a confusion around the roast (people got the wrong order) but they did solve the situation. The pub was well lit and and had a nice look and feel to it. The waiters and staff were very nice. Would definitely come again.

only on the isle for a few days, had a look for somewhere to eat and came across this beauty... what made me choose it was the name initially (living near portland, i had to?) I then read the reviews. They arent wrong!Lady behind the bar was on her own, one lad on the floor who wasnt old enough to serve, and they held it together just fine.Hat off to them.. food was also top notch, had the Wednesday special curry ?Definitely would come again ?

I usually visit this pub on a regular basis and have found the two women behind the bar very helpful and pleasant. However, there is a bloke there who is the most unpleasant person on the planet! He is so obnoxious and unpleasant in his manner. He is supposed to be nice to his customers. No, not him! Each time I have been in this pub,he is always unhelpful and confrontational in every respect. As a result of this incident, I will not be returning . It is a shame as the ladies were always so helpful.People of Gurnard beware! Unless he is your best friend.

My Husband & I were going to The Mayflower Theatre and decided to eat before the ferry. A friend of mine recommended Tge Portland for Sunday Lunch and she was right! We managed to book a table for 2pm. We were greeted lovely, shown to our table and both decided to go for the roast it was delicious ?. Plenty of it, hot and all cooked so lovely. If you are looking for a lovely pub, with lovely home cooked food, the Portland is your place to go!The Portland is very local to us and we go there whenever we can. We love the staff and the food is to die for. I can't comment on the quality of the beer or wine, because I drink lemonade when there due to driving, but I can say the lemonade is lovely :)Ignore the 1 star reviews, unless they were a mistake, you can't please everyone and nitpicking is just a nonsense.

We had Christmas lunch here yesterday and it was absolutely lovely. The food was beautifully presented, delicious and nice and hot. Really nice wine too! The staff were attentive but not intrusive and didn't rush us at all. I would definitely recommend a meal out here. I'm certainly going to book for Christmas next year.

Came with my whole family for a birthday meal, it was perfect! The food was amazing, excellent size portions- I had the prawn noodles and they were fantastic! It was a lovely atmosphere, really friendly and will be back again!
