The only thing which wasn't amazing about our meal here was that this excellent restaurant deserved to be busier.The food was full of flavour and perfectly cooked. My tastebuds were coming alive even as I ate the bruschetta which was tasty and perfectly crisp (not crunchy) on the outside and soft on the inside.The staff were very attentive and it was lovely to chat to the owner too.If you're looking for somewhere to eat, this is the place.And nothing to do with this restuarant, but made me smile.I began speed reading, and just last night I read “The Da Vinci Code” in fifteen minutes.I know it’s only 4 words, but it’s a start.How I MarkI may mark differently to some other reviewers, some might see this as harsh, others may see it as fair. But here's how I look at it:5 star - WOW. I want to go back and look forward to doing so. They delivered everything expected and more. The 'more' is normally about the service or attitude of the staff.4 star - GOOD. They delivered everything I wanted and a bit more. I recommend them and would go back.3 star - OK. They delivered what I expected, I would go back if I needed to, although don't currently plan on doing so.2 star - Not very good. I didn't get what I expected and the service wasn't good. I don't recommend this place. I might get dragged back here, although will always try to avoid it1 star - This was rubbish. Don't go there, I certainly won't go there again. I didn't get what I wanted, the people were unhelpful and I didn't enjoy it in any way.Vegetarian options: I get tired of going to restaturants and only having one veggie option, with another five vegan options. I loved the selection here and look forward to returning.

The atmosphere was nice, even though you might feel a bit closer to the other tables. The staff was polite and quick to respond. The food was good, but nothing special compared to the price. I would say it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Overall, a good experience.

Fabulous Place . Should be 10 stars , this place should be packed day and night . Sadly Newport is in decline , many shops empty . Had wonderful stone steak and Lamb shank . Beats other top restaurants and we’ve been to many .

I am very impressed. The meal was exceptional. Great portion sizes with good quality ingredients. Plenty to choose from off the menu. The staff were efficient and friendly. The restaurant is decorated very nicely giving a very relaxing ambiance to enjoy our food. Would not hesitate in recommending.

I’ve eaten here on a few occasions. The food is ok, not out of this world, but I return because I like service from staff and the atmosphere is nice. The only downside to the experience is that 10% service charge is unable to be taken off. (The owner/manager) has refused on both occasions I’ve asked. Usually I don’t mind paying a service charge but on this occasion I just happened to ask if it goes to the waiting/kitchen staff. The answer is no, it doesn’t. I was informed I could leave an additional tip on top if I wished to thank them for their service. Our meal cost £160 for 2 including the service charge so I didn’t feel inclined to leave more money. I agree with a service charge for large groups but fewer than 6 feel it should be discretionary. I just feel that customers should be aware that the service charge does not go to the staff. And the staff, especially Callum, are fab and work so hard.

We came here for our Dad’s birthday meal. The service was excellent, and the food was exceptional. My two children were with us too and made to feel so welcome. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated for Christmas as well as spotlessly clean. Thank you so much to the Da Vinci team, you are amazing!
