We stayed here many times before the pandemic and were unaware of the management change. Before it was a bright spacious hotel, beautiful gardens and an indoor pool. Now al this is gone and used as their family home. You now have a keypad to get in that leads straight to rooms. It felt very claustrophobic. No reception, no one to greet you. Breakfast is bought to your room where we ate on a table by our bathroom! I’m aware I should have checked details before travel and had I have done I would never have stayed. Very disappointed.

We stayed four nights, travelling around the Island by bus and both agreed this was the nicest B & B we've been in! The location is perfect for bus-hopping holidays, with the Old Town just a five minute walk away down quiet streets (for routes 3 and the seasonal Island Coaster). The B & B itself is in a tranquil, secluded area on a hill with Palm Trees dotted around. We were even lucky enough to glimpse a sea view from our room (Room 8)!Rooms are homely and recently refurbished, with thick carpets, extremely comfy beds and are spotlessly clean. And then we have the breakfast - and what a breakfast it is! Please note that the breakfast is no longer a full cooked breakfast as it was with the previous owners, but it's still just as filling and tasty. You get to choose a cereal, a yoghurt, a homemade roll / croissant and various sweet and savoury toppings each day and it is delivered to the door of the room in a picnic hamper between 08.45 and 09.15, so no hectic starts for 7am brekkies! Fresh Milk is delivered each day (no UHT here!) from Island dairies, and each room has a small fridge for storage.Liz & Graham went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, with the nice touch of a large pack of shortbreads and fruit bowl waiting for us at the start of our stay. We'd thoroughly recommend it!

My husband and I spent five nights at Fernbank, and we, really, didn’t want to come home so soon! We enjoyed everything about our stay. The room was immaculate and cleaned daily and had everything to make us comfortable - the box of biscuits was a great touch! We thoroughly enjoyed our continental breakfast, which was served, daily, to our room; the croissants were incredible! There was plenty of choice, although we choose a similar breakfast each day, it being exactly to our taste. The self-check in worked very smoothly and parking was good. We have, already, booked for next year. Thank you, Liz and Graham, for making our stay memorable.

If you come to the Isle of wight then this is the place to stay. Central to most of the attractions but more importantly the stay was awesome! Such a friendly service, the rooms were immaculate and the continental breakfast was delivered to the door between 8.45-9pm. Can't thank the staff enough for making our stay and memorable and comfortable one! Sublime!

The rooms are delightful, the service amazing and a very nice getaway. The included breakfast each morning was a perfect way to start the day. It is a bit of a hike to the building but once there, easy access to the shops, pubs and beach in Shanklin.

Stayed over for the Jubilee Weekend and we found it to be a nice, clean accommodation spot with such a good selection for breakfast. The self checkin process was also so seamless. Did I mention clean? ?

This is a beautiful upmarket B & B and would recommend it to anyone. The rooms are quite large including comfy 3 seater sofa, breakfast table with 2 chairs, fridge, wall mounted television, tea and coffee making facilities and our room included both a bath and a double shower, with all soaps, showed creams provided and a hairdrier. It is more like staying in a luxury studio apartment. There is a modern lift on the ground floor near the entrance to access all the rooms upstairs. It is set in beautiful surroundings near enclosed parkland and very quiet and peaceful, but only a 5/10 minute walk to the the main high street and probably a 5 minute car journey to the main sea front. Its just beautiful. We have been 3 times now in the last 15 months and just love it. It just feels like home and so convenient to visiting other parts of the island

Stayed here whilst visiting family. Excellent location, its was exceptionally clean and homely. Breakfast was great, freshly baked croissants, warm rolls, cereal, yoghurts etc delivered by friendly helpful staff to your room.Would definitely recommend, am booking again for later in year. Well done to all at The Fernbank.

Excellent place to stay. Very friendly, clean with recently modernised facilities with a lift to all rooms. Good sized rooms with lovely fresh continental breakfast each morning. Lovely outlook over the gardens and surrounding woodland. Would highly recommend to all.

Having stayed here for many years I was anxious about the change in ownership of this B&B. Generally nothing had changed, apart from the beautifullly refurbished pool and closure of the lounge. I can't say that Liz and Graham made me feel particularly welcome or interact with me to any extent during my 2 weeks stay. Breakfast was plentiful and varied as usual, adequate, but lacking in quality. This won't be a problem next year as I understand the plan is to only provide a Continental breakfast. This would become a quaint Travelodge which is a shame for such a wonderful building and location. Check out what facilities are available from 2022 as they may be different to current reviews. I won't be booking here again.

Once again a wonderful stay and the same high standards kept by the new owners. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests were met. The pool is fantastic, breakfasts plentiful and well cooked, and the whole house spotless. Keep up the good work and we will be back next year. Many thanks Pat, Dave and Ruby

After a warm welcome we settled into our cosy room. Hotel is immaculate and spotless. Having the indoor pool was a bonus however the jewel in the crown was definitely breakfast. A real highlight. Beautifully served by staff who really care. Quality produce and ample portions. Don't know why they bother with a menu as you can basically have whatever you like!
