The Hideaway
Cliff Path, St Boniface Cliff Rd, ShanklinLocated on a Coastal Path accessible on foot, this is truly a hideaway and a local gem. Quaint decor, comfortable seating, delightful service and out of this world delicious food. There is seating outside as well, on the February night we visited, it was too cold, but it must be lovely on a warm evening. Reservations are definitely recommended and we can not wait to be back again.

Frostbite Bakery
30 Littlestairs Rd, ShanklinI recently used Frostbite Bakery for our wedding, they were incredible! The cake was stunning, it tasted amazing, and everyone said how gorgeous it was. I also contacted Ellie 3/4 weeks before our wedding, to ask about adding on a couple of traybake cake bites too, (to have after the ceremony with drinks whilst photos were being taken), and she was really fast at answering my questions and added it to my order too. It was all perfect! 10/10

Fernbank
6 Highfield Rd, ShanklinWe stayed four nights, travelling around the Island by bus and both agreed this was the nicest B & B we've been in! The location is perfect for bus-hopping holidays, with the Old Town just a five minute walk away down quiet streets (for routes 3 and the seasonal Island Coaster). The B & B itself is in a tranquil, secluded area on a hill with Palm Trees dotted around. We were even lucky enough to glimpse a sea view from our room (Room 8)!Rooms are homely and recently refurbished, with thick carpets, extremely comfy beds and are spotlessly clean. And then we have the breakfast - and what a breakfast it is! Please note that the breakfast is no longer a full cooked breakfast as it was with the previous owners, but it's still just as filling and tasty. You get to choose a cereal, a yoghurt, a homemade roll / croissant and various sweet and savoury toppings each day and it is delivered to the door of the room in a picnic hamper between 08.45 and 09.15, so no hectic starts for 7am brekkies! Fresh Milk is delivered each day (no UHT here!) from Island dairies, and each room has a small fridge for storage.Liz & Graham went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, with the nice touch of a large pack of shortbreads and fruit bowl waiting for us at the start of our stay. We'd thoroughly recommend it!

The Lazy Wave
2A Esplanade, ShanklinGreat little cafe at the northern end of Shanklin beach. It’s right on the seafront with outdoor seating overlooking the bay. They do slushies and milkshakes and coffees and ice cream and fresh donuts. Great place to hang out. When the tide is in the sea is right up to the edge of the cafe.Kid-friendliness: Self serve multi-flavour slushi machine

Paramount Cafe Shanklin
74 High St, ShanklinI think that John has been here since after the Flood of Noah's day. It is the best place in Shanklin for great food especially the breakfasts. He is always cheerful - and plenty of banter. Great for Workmen or smartly dressed Business Men. Plenty of tables and table service too. If you are hungry - then go and see John and the girls. Remember - best food in Shanklin. ?. Stuart Woodward. ?

Benjamin's Bar and Bistro
36-38 High St, ShanklinWe can neither rave nor complain. The food was average but presented well. The service was good. The cocktails were great. Our only gripes would be that the wine selection was grim and the atmosphere could have used some music! Otherwise, this was a reasonable choice of restaurant and, as we were a large group, the staff did well to cope with us and so we were perfectly satisfied with our experience. That's good value!

The Village Inn
Church Rd, ShanklinThis is our favourite pub. I make sure to come here every time I come to England, and I am never disappointed. At different visits to the pub during this stay, I tried the fish & chips, the cheesy cauliflower broccoli soup, the lamb shank, the cheesy garlic toast, and the fried fish sandwich, all of which were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is calm, warm, rich, and inviting, and the staff are absolutely fabulous. They know when to offer assistance and when to respect one's privacy, as well as being very friendly. I wanted to try something new to drink and the bartender not only created a new drink but seemed to instinctively know what I would like. We love everything about this place, we will definitely be returning, and we urge you to experience The Village Inn for yourself!

The Happy Haddock
87 High St, ShanklinSuperb Fish & Chips served with a smile! What a lovely place. We were attracted by the family meal deal (2 adult and 2 children F&C for £22) which was great value for money. The place was clean and friendly. And even when we paid for extra sauce they gave us more than just one sachet which surprised me with their generosity. The fish was piping hot, with a crispy batter which I understood is gluten free. And gorgeous fat chips with salt n vinegar. What else do you need? Well the wife still wanted gravy and mushy peas to remind her of up North.Great place, I really recommend it!
