Fabulous venue for drinks or food, really lovely location and great atmosphere. We visit most times we are on the island and we are never disappointed. Christmas menu was particularly delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and staff, in Particular Clive! Myself my partner are both very very fussy Eaters and the kitchen staff were bloody brilliant in catering for my autistic ass??? out of the chains of Inn, the steamer inn beats them all. The food was incredible and the soup was to die for?? If you are looking for a cosy winter meal definitely the place to visit! Will definitely be back!??❤️

Came across this restaurant by accident as the one we were looking for was closed, but what a find. Fabulous menu and specials board so we were all stuck for choice. Both myself and my wife had the Seafood Chowder which was a hefty portion and absolutely delicious whilst our friends had the Seafood Gumbo which was equally as good. Both came with a great hunk of bread to mop up the sauce. Desserts were as good as we settled for the the chocolate bread and butter puddings. Very busy with everyone eating but enough friendly staff to cope. We will be returning

We came here when unable to eat where we were staying. We were greeted with warmth and all the staff seemed friendly and amenable. Plenty to choose from on the menu and lots of options for anyone with food issues. The friendliness alone would be enough to encourage a return to The Steamer - the food seals the deal. Well worth a visit.

We visited for a drink and the staff were so welcoming and child friendly we returned for a full dinner later in the week. The food was amazing and portions massive. Their kids menu had a lot of choices and the pub and staff are very dog friendly too. Would recommend anyone coming to Shanklin to visit here.Food & drinks: Food and drinks were full of variety and very good quality.

Our favourite restaurant in Shanklin. On the seafront, lovely place to watch the sea. Excellent food, service and staff. Never disappoints, so many choices. Ann and family

We asked if they had space and yes it was a long shot for 10 people but instead of being polite and saying unfortunately we don't have space, the staff were incredibly rude. But we had a fantastic meal next door at the Waterfront Inn so all good.

No local beer as advertised, but the two meals from the specials menu were surprisingly good. Service pretty good, except for the barman's attitude. The company states on their menu that staff should be treated with politeness and respect. Indeed they should be, but the same should apply to treatment of customers.

Nice food, really friendly and efficient staff, brilliant location. We sat outside late September and the heaters in the covered area were ample to keep us warm in the evening.Only thing to note (and a minor one at that) was having to queue for a while to order food. But still definitely recommend and would return if visiting Isle of Wight again.

Unfortunately didn’t take any pictures of the food wish I had! staff very welcoming and friendly, generous food portions and deserts value for money and good selection of ales too lucky for me Ringwood ales were on!! Wish I’d visited sooner definitely recommend!! Until sometime again thank you all for an enjoyable evening.

We visited three times as it was October and not much else was open. Extensive menu with the usual pub grub options - a tad expensive -nearly £17 for fish and chips, but it was good food with lovely staff. Nice view onto the sea front - worth a visit.

On our first night in Shanklin we chose the Steamer Inn, as it seemed to have a nice view of the sea and a reasonable menu. We ate there and the food was good and reasonably priced but we never returned and chose to eat elsewhere. Why was that? Well there was a lady who was almost effusive in her welcome but sadly the rest of the other staff seemed as if they would rather be somewhere else. Perhaps it was end of the season blues? And I would have preferred it if staff who were just chatting to each other and doing nothing else could have taken my order instead of me having to go every time to the bar. None of that of course was earth shattering. But what put us off was seeing the welcome that some staff gave to the number of dogs who were there. I don’t accept seeing staff pet and stroke animals and then serve food or handle utensils straight afterwards without washing. Perhaps they need to get a job at a kennels rather than a place where food is served.

Lovely food, staff and views! Walking along the seafront and saw this place. Looked lovely, so we had to stop for our tea. Whitebait and Prawn Ceasar to start and then seafood Chowder and Prok medallions for mains. Would definitely recommend coming here, especially in the evening time.
