Stopped for lunch here during exploration of Shanklin and Sandown. Good range of lunch options and very friendly helpful staff that were happy to find time to chat with customers when not busy with orders

We stopped at Shanklin at coffee time, parking our car we saw the garden entrance of Vernon Cottage. The garden was so pretty, we chose to sit inside with a nice view over the outside gardens. The coffee was great quality with two complimentary biscuits, very reasonably priced and customer service was excellent. Their toilets were spotless, so 10/10 for Vernon Cottage, will definitely be back.

We are annual visitors to Vernon's cottage and this year's visit was as good as any that preceded it. Good quality tea/coffee and cakes in a lovely sheltered garden. Friendly and accommodating staff were the icing on the cake. See you next year!!!

This is the most beautiful spot for afternoon tea. The cottage is idyllic and the decor is gorgeous. I had a tasty homemade scone with cream, jam and strawberries and my 2 girls each had a slice of delicious chocolate cake. A perfect end to our week in the Isle of Wight.

Absolutely Fab Cream Tea, friendly staff, quirky Olde Cottage with nice garden. Homemade scones in shape of IOW! We were there late afternoon, so they popped on an extra scone too!

Wow! We've been coming to the Isle of wight for a few years and always find something new every time we go. We stumbled on this place as we fancied a coffee. We ordered 2 cream teas and so impressed we will definitely be going back. The scones were out of this world and my latte was too. Have you ever thought of putting your recipes in a book? Where do you get your coffee from please? Thank you for the experience

Very impressed with all aspects of the experience. A good choice for a lovely cream tea, tho would have preferred Raspberry jam to Strawberry.Wanted to visit the Gift shop but it was closed.

We had lunch with friends yesterday and couldn't rate it highly enough. Lovely setting, staff efficient and friendly and really good quality food with a whole range of choices from cake, cream tea, sandwiches and light bites to main meals. Two of our party had the Vernon pie and said it was thd best they had had. Value for money and would highly recommend.
Popped in for late lunch/early dinner and were lucky to get a table. Really friendly team and very welcoming, and clearly popular given it was very busy. We both had the prawn cocktail followed by the house special Vernon Lamb Pie. Both generous portions to the point that dessert was not an option. The Lamb pie was delicious and comes highly recommended. Very much worth a visit, and the cakes did look delicious too!

We had a lovely family lunch. All of the meals were first rate. I had the Shanklin pie with a pint of bitter which was amazing (and much needed after my morning hike!). The staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back again.

Served us an excellent cream tea, with quite the best scones we have ever tasted, baked fresh on the premises that morning, together with the best clotted cream, home made jam and fresh strawberries. The service was friendly, welcoming and prompt. We arrived a little after when cream teas would normally be served but the proprietor was more than happy to accommodate us and the staff were a delight. The sunny, sheltered garden was the perfect setting.
