Following a few disappointing meals around the island i was beginning to think my expectations were just too high until I found the Bonchurch Inn. Wow, what an experience!!! The Inn is nestled in a leafy quiet area between Ventnor and Bonchurch, down a cobbled lane. It was like stepping back in time. The staff were so friendly. The food was sensational. I had the fillet steak, thick, tender, juicy. Well seasoned and probably the best steak I've had EVER!!!!!. This came with an impressive Mediterranean salad which was packed with olives, sundried tomatoes, rocket leaves, peppers, tomatoes and of course chunky chips which were homemade. The Bonchurch Inn is going to be my place to go from now on.

A traditional quaint and authentic family run village pub. We visited as a family of 5 and had the most delicious meal with good wine and a very warm welcome. The life changing lasagna was probably the best I’ve ever had, accompanied by an interesting side salad. The menu is simple, home cooked Italian. A very memorable evening and I would have no hesitation in recommending the pub to anyone. The desserts were all homemade and delicious, you have to save room!

Life changing lasagna may not actually be life changing, but it is delicious and very tasty.Cosy and comfortable small pub with great wine selection and it is also dog friendly. In the summer there is a good outside seating area too. Just been there for dinner today and it is still as good as always. I had shin of beef stew which was delicious. Also very filling, I could not eat it all! Lovely family run pub and also completely dog friendly.

Booked in advance. On arrival, we had to discover the hard way that there was no parking so forced to reverse out of the narrow driveway into the road to search for scarce street parking. Walking in, it’s not clear where the entrance is but once in we were greeted with a curt “yes we were expecting you but not your two dogs”. This despite including it in the online booking. We then had to be re-assigned “a more suitable” table in another room (the saloon). Considering the very high prices, a lot more effort could be put into the decor of this room which was tired and scruffy with original 1970’s carpet. Even the people who arrived after us asked to be moved to the bar and apologised to their friends for being in the saloon. We had the famous Lasagne which was delicious but we did balk at having to pay over £5 each for garlic bread served in plastic baskets.

Not your normal looking pub but tucked away up a short drive with a lovely courtyard. Great atmosphere and service and wonderful Italian food. We enjoyed it so much we went there twice during our week's holiday. The first time we both had the sea bass special, which was exceptional, and the second time we had to try the famous lasagne and glad we did, the best we have ever had! Wine good and Tribute beer from the barrel, what more could you want. Book in advance as very popular.

I booked dinner for the family to celebrate my husband’s ‘big’ birthday - a variety of ages in the party of 13, from 18-80. Most live on the island (we don’t) but no one in the party had visited before. Fantastic and authentic food, lovely service and unique setting in beautiful Bonchurch. Every dish got rave reviews, even from the impossible to please Instagram generation. Thank you so much for a memorable evening - and even little things, like letting us bring in our own cake, actually mean a lot. We will be back!

The food was very good, but the service was very slow. The staff were working hard, but as everything was cooked to order, the kitchen was slow. We had to wait over an hour for our main course (we had no starter). We felt his was a little too long.

Nestling beneath Bonchurch Down, this gorgeous little Inn is a must for visitors to the area. Parking is difficult, so you might have to walk a little to get there. However, it is well worth the effort, as it is quite exquisite, with its little cobbled courtyard and tiny terrace. We didn't eat there on this occasion, as we were just seeking new places to visit. Having recently moved to the area, we had been aware of the inn, but had never called in before. Scanning the menu, it was surprisingly mid-range in price and we were there long enough to watch several plates of food pass us by. Each looked very enticing, so we made a mental note to call again for a meal. Tables are very limited, so you almost certainly need to book during the holiday season. Drink prices were a little higher than expected, though that may simply have been the ones we chose. Choice though was limited on this occasion. In any event, it would not prevent us visiting again, for this is a very unusual little find, which has significant charm.

Superb food and a really good find. It is nestled between Ventnor and Bonchurch and it is well worth visiting. Their “Life changing Lasagna” was awesome and I cleaned out my plate completely. The house red wine was a perfect pairing. If you get the chance, eat there !It is dog-friendly too
