Recommended by a friend to try daily soup, there were a few choices. The friendly staff offered that we could have a cup of each, spicey parsnip, and cauliflower with garlic. They were very tasty and included brown bread and butter.Great cause makes it even better.

Better days cafe is a saving grace to a lot of people. People who need emotional support, benefit advice, signposting.. to name just a few! They are feeding children for free through the school holidays. There is a pay it forward system for people who can't afford to eat, ask for house special, no questions asked. The cafe not only helps the public but it helps all of its volunteers. Can not recommend it enough. Go give it a visit and see for yourself ?

Really warm, welcoming cafe with friendly volunteer staff inspired by manager Kirsty providing a genuine home from home - maybe the first genuine, loving home atmosphere for some patrons. All are made very welcome. Food is simple homely fare, tasty, freshly made/baked soup, sandwiches, cakes, in a setting which feels like a French bistro. Those who cannot afford to pay can ask for a house special, no questions asked, no judgement made, no embarrassment experienced, their meal on the house. No council or government funding, Kirsty works hard to attract donations of ingredients to provide these free meals for those who need them, including kids' breakfast and lunches during school holidays and the Caffè has won awards from those in positions to judge the genuineness of this provision. Yet all done in such a humble, genuinely compassionate and inclusive manner and in a way that feels like a great little bistro to visit with friends for coffee or a lunch. An amazing asset to Ventnor. The vegetarian sausage roll I had was so delicious I bought more to take away!!Kid-friendliness: Kids' toys books and kid friendly and interested staffParking: Public car park opposite and plenty free street parking

The better days cafe goes above and beyond for the community. The food is delicious and my 5 year old would 100% recommend the delicious milkshakes! They serve oat milk and other options too, which is fantastic for my toddler who is dairy intolerant. Kirsty and her team of wonderful volunteers are so passionate about helping people, and if anyone’s in trouble, Kirsty is there to either solve any problem she can or signpost you to someone that can if it’s not possible. 1000% recommend.

We stumbled across this amazing place whilst staying in Ventnor and going to the IOW festival. Lovely, helpful and supportive staff, who couldn't do more for us. Great atmosphere and food. Bounty milkshake was fab. It was evident that its an important community hub and meeting place for all to enjoy. Paying it forward for someone was an added bonus. Great to be able to do that and we'll definitely be back. X

If you are looking for a nice cafe with friendly welcoming staff that serves very good food and even better carrot cake, then you have found the right place. They also have a playroom that is good for toddlers and children. We will come back.

Really enjoyed visiting this bohemian chic cafe yesterday. Ventnor excels for friendly and welcoming hospitality but even by Ventnor standards the warm welcome at this venue stood out.The cafe has a social purpose beyond profit, which is great to know, and the prices are definitely lower than those you would expect on a High Street.I noticed a discrete chalkboard inviting customers to ask for the 'house special' if they are low on funds and there is a donation box on the counter to collect donations to pay forwards a cup of coffee etc. An important initiative that would be good to see more widely on the Island. The eclectic fabulousness of the interior design means it feels more artist led than community project. I loved the 'chess lounge' but unfortunately didn't have time to beat my boyfriend at a game before we had to go watch the carnival. This is a fabulous venue and will be a must visit for me on future trips to Ventnor. Highly recommended.
