The meal and experience went from ten to zero very quickly. The bar was short of glasses and substituted with smaller glasses, this would be fine if they didn't try to charge us full price. The kitchen and bar stuff obviously can't or don't communicate with one another. I understand the order was rather big, but 10 minute gaps between orders that we were told they would send together (informed them by their request once last of us had ordered) isn't acceptable. The waiters need more training, very aloof.

Lovely place, great food and service, dog friendly and there's even a large play area for the kids while you sip on mermaid gin!

Would love to make this a 4.5 The Wight Mouse is a lovely spot, tucked away in the middle of nowhere on the Island but offering a warm welcome. It’s always been a family friendly spot and we visited as a couple as a stop off on a hike, having never stayed there before. The room was in lovely condition and felt well looked after - it was well appointed with a sofa as well as desk, lots of storage and a clean bathroom. There was a bit of noise in our room from the dining area below, but this didn’t cause any bother and quietened down quickly after 10pm - nothing out of the ordinary for rooms above a pub, and actually lovely to hear so many people enjoying themselves. Wonderful staff made us very welcome, and the included breakfast was great. INCREDIBLY generous portions of food!

This is our second Christmas eve here and yet again it didn't disappoint. We had the 3 course meal from the festive menu and it was gorgeous, the food was hot, well presented and delicious. The staff were all on the ball and very attentive. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely setting, great food, staff are friendly. A lot of space do your not squashed in. Only gave location a 4 as its so out the way and you really need a car to get there, otherwise the setting gor the pub is perfect ?

The Wight mouse Inn at Chale on the Isle of Wight is a great place to stay, eat and they accommodate your dog too. This is the second time we have stayed at The Wight mouse and although the last time was a year ago we paid exactly the same price for Bed and breakfast. We met with family members in the bar during the evening for a good, decently price meal. My husband and I had the cod fillet served over a green Thai broth with prawns and sauce potatoes. It’s a great place for families to eat, with my grandchildren catered for with lots of choice. In the summer months there is a huge garden for al fresco dining. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, our dog was treated to dog biscuits from the bar. This morning we had the full English breakfast to send us on our way. We will certainly make The wight mouse a regular stop when visiting the Island.

We love the White Mouse, for the food, the atmosphere and the great staff, our favourite go to pub when staying on the Island. We were made very welcome, had a very nice table each time and thoroughly enjoyed our food, my wife;s excellent fish pie especially. It can get very busy in high season so a good idea to book but we were fortunate that it was not quite so busy in December. Just to mention that our family enjoy eating there too when we are all on holiday on the Island. The youngsters enjoy the play area. there and the food of course.

Our favourite spot in the IOW, always stay here with our Pup. We had the Chicken & Buternut Soup this time for lunch and it was delicious. They're Soups are top notch, my favourite being the Curried Cauliflower Soup, we stayed in September for our anniversary & I requested the Curred Cauliflower Soup, it was specially made for us and with some to take home. Fabulous food, excellent service, a lovely relaxing place to stay. We are returning in April 2024 for another visit & will be putting my order in for my fav soup.

Lunch time on a Saturday (2nd December). I ordered soup from the Specials Board. described as "CHEESE AND CAULIFLOWER SOUP". Hmm. it was OK, but I would put money on, that it was yesterdays leftover Cauliflower Cheese that had been put through a liquidiser!! Which if so, is exceedingly naughty! I was tempted to complain, but as i chose it, thought there was no point. My husband's lentil and veg pie was OK......but the usual microwaved stuff. Also, lots of tables were marked reserved but hardly any were sat on, in the 2 hours we were there. So what was that all about?? Not sure i would go there again by choice...very mediocre.

Thank you to everyone at The Wight Mouse Inn for offering an excellent Christmas dinner & pudding this afternoon. The main course & pudding were exceptionally good and keeps up the consistently high standard of hearty food we've enjoyed all through the year. The dinner service we enjoyed ran very smoothly and we look forward to going back to The Wight Mouse Inn in the New Year. A brilliant start to the Christmas festivities.

As annual visitors to Chale, we regularly count our blessings at having the Wight Mouse Inn on our doorstep. The pub is lovely, the staff friendly and the food excellent and all the better for being walking distance from our accommodation. A must visit for anyone in the area!Food & drinks: A broad menu of pub classics interspersed with a daily specials board, offering something different.

Very disappointed with my food here the garlic mushrooms looked like they were from a tin with no flavour, the crusty lightly toasted bread was in so much liquid it was really soggy couldn’t eat it, the cheesy garlic bread was cold I sent it back to be reheated and the chips were mediocre, and the salad cream bottle was so congealed it wouldn’t come out ( see picture ) on a good note my friends had the lasagna and really enjoyed it
