A nice buzzy coffee shop and the best Veggie pastry’s in Deal!

Went in here today to have coffee and cake and expecting to be greeted by a nice friendly local coffee shop, however, the staff were arrogant, surly and clearly couldn’t be bothered to even greet customers with a smile or a hello- as a business owner, I would not dream of treating by clients in the way we were treated today- it was almost as though we were an inconvenience to be, god forbid, ordering coffee and cake in a coffee shop! After reading the rest of the reviews, clearly we are not the only ones who have been treated to their special brand of customer service. The girl with the blond hair was particularly vile, glaring at me when I was taking more than a few seconds to decide on a coffee- tables filthy, staff can’t be bothered- avoid like the plague! Found it equally incredible that the owner had the audacity to pull someone up on a similar review, questioning the impact of their comments on the business- clearly they need to sort the staff issue out rather than attacking honest reviews!

Really great coffee and pastries. Recently a little grubby on the tables chairs etc. Nothing bad but sticky. Only big criticism is the loyalty card rules. One coffee stamp only per transaction regardless of how many coffees I purchase. one coffee one coffee stamp five coffees one coffee stamp. Next perhaps I will order them all five separately. Seems odd as all other coffee shops loyalty schemes are fair.

Awful customer service. The three young women behind the counter complained non stop and repeatedly said how much they wanted to close and go home at lunchtime on Sunday. Asked for iced Lattes. They had run out of both milk and ice. Saw one of them cough all over the service counter without bothering to cover her mouth. Not a word of greeting, thanks or goodbye to customers.

There are now a number of Google and TripAdvisor reviews commenting on the poor staff. Owners - are you actually listening? I went in with my son who asked for an iced-drink…’can do’ was the terse response. Turned an iced chocolate drink is just some ice cubes with milk and some powdered chocolate - not blended or stirred. Watered down milk with a hint of chocolate powder - you get my point. My flat white was poorly made - basically a latte with no foam and beans just pretty tasteless. We poured both away about 50 meters down the road. 3 pastries - just rubbish/tasteless - no doubt bought from a big standard food service co. £16 poorly spent. I could live with average food/drink and wouldn’t bother writing a review if the staff were delightful. However, we were treated to an impressive act of passive/aggressive service. The right (just) words were coming out of the mouths of the young women but what they were really saying was ‘I hate working here and I wish you’d bugger off’. Zero eye contact, barking questions about orders and banging coffee down on the counter when you have your hand out to receive it. I remember when this place opened - really good - but Deal has some cracking owner/managed (the key?) independent coffee shops and I suspect if things don’t change - owners might just keep wondering why the takings are down month on month. It’s a simple solution - do shifts with staff and train them. Show them what excellent customer service looks like and change food/coffee suppliers. Do less bit have more. Mystery shop and give staff feedback and incentives. If they don’t improve - move them on. I wish this place well and it’s great to have thriving businesses in Deal but I will be swerving this place for some time/ever and I’d have rather spent £16 buying a large fish and snacking myself round the face with it and then licking the road! Good luck.

Sat outside this cafe today and had a lovely latte and my partner had a flat white, the art work on the coffees was great, The two young members of staff were very attentive and friendly and young man helped me with the drinks, Very lovely coffee shop and lovely atmosphere ? Will be returning.

Two young girls serving but one obviously didn't want to be there very abrupt and not friendly.Table was disgusting. I ask for a cloth to clean it with ,thinking it would be cleaned by one of them but was passed the cloth to do it myself..

This was a great find. Not in center of busy town but still in main area. The coffee is really good. The staff are friendly and plenty of seating.

I avoid if I can. As I find some of the staff (girls) abrupt with no customer service skills ..
