Staying in Lyminge for a week and decided to try the 'local' for Sunday lunch. We booked by telephone but they had no record of the booking when we arrived. No matter there were plenty of empty tables ! We soon found out why. Food appalling. Microwaved veg, no slices of beef or chicken just mushy pieces like you would put in a pie. The staff were scruffy to say the least and the furniture was tatty and tables not even laid up. My white wine was no where near cold enough. We didn't bother to stay for dessert. Big mistake ! I understand the pub was taken over recently and was previously good. What a disappointment.

Very nice food. Smashing barman. But paid £6.40 for a glass of warm white wine! Awful.

Please look at the other reviews since the pub was taken over during covid. This pub used to be absolutely fantastic, we’d go all the time for food and really enjoyed each and every visit. Since the new owners have taken over, it has really deteriorated. We ate for the first time a few days ago and the food was absolutely appalling. Really, really bad. The toasted sandwiches were out of a Breville, they’d actually toasted it with salad inside so it was slimey and had to be removed. The landlady stands behind the bar staring at you eating biscuits in her slippers and the landlord always seems to be sitting in the pub on his mobile. The beer garden has got rubbish strewn all over it, not to mention the Alsatian that is chained up to a post barking. The inside is in dire straights, they have replaced the tables and chairs with mismatched sofas. If you’re in the area, use either The Gatekeeper in Etchinghill or the Coffee Cabin which are both good to eat at. To the owners, please try to improve. This was such a great business and pub when the old owners were there, get a proper chef, reinstate tables and chairs and tidy up the place as currently it’s like a dump.

Would give an extra star for been one of the friendliest local pub that isn't on my doorstep. Staying over in Luminge ventured here for dinner. Saw domm bar bit the local lewes bitter was a standout drink highly recommended by Scott one of the locals we met in the bar. Great food by the war massive pizzas and a tasty black pepper, garlic chicken burger. Should have gone home them as had ferry in the morning but ended up having a few more drinks with Emily, Charlie, Sonia, Jen and Matt. Great time thanks to you we want to come back.

We visited for lunch this week while staying at the local HPB property. We weren’t sure what to expect and were a bit nervous that it wouldn’t live up to our 80 year old mums high expectations and standards! However, we weren’t disappointed. Staff were really friendly, food was cooked to order and was piping hot and delicious. Such good value for money. I can imagine some may be put off by the decor and interior, but it does not claim to be a beautifully designed gastro pub. It’s a proper pub with great wholesome food. The toilets were spotlessly clean too. Would definitely return if in the area.

Had two of the best pizzas we’ve had anywhere - take a while as they are genuinely home made. Really good Pinot Grigio and Bitter. Real family run local pub with good friendly service and atmosphere. Staying locally and we’ll go back for again.

My son enjoyed the breakfast burger and was keen to add a picture to a Google review. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Friendly welcome, great homemade burger, nice atmosphere. Shame no dedicated parking so arriving at lunchtime a bit of a problem but otherwise really good and will call again.

Booked a table for five for Sunday roast today. Have never been here before, a bit difficult for parking on road but I have to say it was well worth it. The staff were very helpful and polite, as we were a bit late. I thoroughly enjoyed my lager shandy and I had the roast beef and it was absolutely beautiful, cooked to perfection and was so easy to cut and eat, no having to chew like I’ve had in other places, I have never tasted beef so good and it was so nice to have the gravy served separately, and the cauliflower cheese was so good and for desert I had the chocolate and caramel cheesecake, well what can I say, every mouthful was a delight. I will definitely, without a doubt, be going there again as soon as I can. Thank you Coach and Horses for a very happy, contented and memorable day, see you soon.

I chose this place based on the reviews and can only assume that chef has changed since the last reviews were left. Friendly, helpful service but some of the worst food I’ve had in a pub in a very long time. Lumpy mash and vegetables boiled to within an inch of their lives. Very disappointing.

We had the most delicious fish & chips this evening, a fab pub, Emily & Fred certainly are most welcoming and very friendly hosts. Totally recommend and we will eat here again soon.

Only went for quiz but really enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and though we did not eat, the food looked good ! Hopefully we can make this a regular visit!
