Been a few times recently and it's been a drama, but not today, quick service, hot coffee and a very nice Ciabatta BLT.

Do not come here for mother's day. The roast dinner was rock hard, everyone had to have steak knives to cut even the potatoes or cauliflower, and the meat was so rare it was disgusting. This is the worst roast I've eaten in my life, but we have heard the food can be good here, so maybe we just got unlucky.

Our first visit to this charming pub restaurant, and it didn't disappoint!Such a charming little pub, in the middle of the country, with delicious food, and a great service. Thank you Hook & Hatchet for a lovely evening, we'll definitely be returning.

Absolutely glorious pub to frequent! Dog friendly. Beautiful in the summer to visit and sit in the garden. You may even see a horse parked up outside. Great food. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful place! We wanted an old pub / restaurant to stop at for lunch and came across this!Out in what feels like the middle no where (in reality 10 minutes from the main road network) beautiful surroundings, superb service nothing was too much trouble for the gentleman that served us! And the food was delicious and they do not scrimp on portion size!Definitely going back!Kid-friendliness: Our 18 month old was more than welcome and treated as a paying customer not a burden!

Two visits in the same week to a naturally pretty venue, full of character.Jimmy is an absolute treasure and worth his weight in gold, nothing is to much trouble and his attention to detail is second to none.I am unable to say the same for the other members of staff unfortunately. I do not mean to be derogatory, but they are just not customer service orientated by any stretch of the imagination whatsoever, and the minute Jimmy is occupied elsewhere, service and any attention just falls to pieces.Food is sadly no more than spruced up, microwaved, pub-grub and averagely disappointing at that. Given no excuse, in that we dined on both occasions in a virtually empty pub, it was either over-nuked or under.Despite a poor review, we shall return yet again, but only because of Jimmy’s such polite and welcoming service, which more than makes up for the let downs.

Good , well cooked pub food ( I was told the batter on the fish and chips was particularly good) , nice well appointed pub ( narrow roads to get there but worth the effort ) dog friendly and with fantastic dog walks for after lunch. All told , highly
