We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was very attentive as it wasnt the busiest evening, even though it was a Saturday. The menu itself is very extensive, with set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for a la carte. Our starters were Wonton soup(9/10), Butterfly King Prawns(9/10), salt & pepper squid(10/10) and salt & pepper ribs(7/10). This is due to a bit of "frozen" aftertaste on the ribs. After this our mains arrived, 2 portions of egg fried rice(one is enough for two people), beef in oyster sauce(7/10), again unfortunately a bit of "frozen" aftertaste on the beef but the sauce was delicious and the beef very tender. Also had the XO Squid + Prawns which were amazing(10/10). All in all a very good meal and hope the management will look into my comments on the ribs and beef. My ratings are only deducted for the food not being quite as good as it could have been. Definitely be back.

We had a nice experience at kalaRED. Went in for an evening meal after a long day out walking and weren't disappointed. I recommend booking in advance of an evening though, we got lucky as there was a lull just before the rush but it does get busy. We were seated promptly at a table for two and were immediately asked if we would like a drink. The server was incredibly attentive. The menu itself is very extensive, boasting set meals as well as a la carte. We opted for Set Menu B for 2 with a few extras on the side. The menu also boasts quite a lot of dim sum options, of which we had soup dumplings. They could've been a little more soupy for my liking but were pleasant. Our other starters were salt and pepper squid and salt and pepper ribs; both delicious. The beginning of out set menu also arrived at this time, a selection of hors d'oeuvres including, crispy wontons, satay chicken, butterfly king prawn, smoked chicken, seaweed and dry ribs. The wontons were the only disappointing item; little to no "stuffing". This appetiser platter was shortly followed by a quarter roast duck with the trimmings, pulled tableside. Delicious! After this our portions of egg fried rice, chicken, prawns and beef were delivered. All quite tasty though a little under seasoned aside from the beef in my opinion. We did have to wait for a good while for the bill unfortunately, though only a minor inconvenience. Overall a nice experience. My stars are only deducted for the food not being quite as mind blowing as I would've liked.

Restaurant inside looks nice and unique, that’s the only good thing I can say. The tofu starter was so dry it tasted like I was chewing on polystyrene!, and the pack Choi, well we were only serve the the ends, none of the green leaves as if they cut that off and saved it for themselves(see picture) I went with my Asian partner, so she was very aware of why to expect, my god please avoid at all costs. To mention the atmosphere! To describe, would be like having a meal in a middle of a club, over crowded no social distancing what’s so ever. I felt robbed and hungrier than I was before I sat down, because the food was so unappetising. If this wasn’t functioning as a bar, I don’t believe the restaurant alone would survive. NEVER AGAIN!

Had a lovely evening for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We hadn’t been before so chose the set menu for two. Food was delicious, hot and plentiful. Waiting staff were polite and attentive and we got a discount as it was a Wednesday with the government scheme.
Definitely will go again.

I decided to eat some birds nest noodles I knew it this place used to do it... disappointing they don’t do it anymore ? The service was ok. They had an amazing ceremony for the lunar Chinese New Year I really enjoy it... my food was ok... some of the dishes were a bit plane not flavour, could be better. I think they need to renovate some of the furniture in there.

Regularly use Kala Red for tske away deliveries. Tried both Uber and Deliveroo, and Deliveroo definitely better at keeping food hot. Singapore noodles and soft shell crab personal favourites.

first visit to kala red went a bit early so not a lot of custom at that time, so service was v good and the meal excellent good value and quantity, ( compared to Noble House), after a while a lot more custom arrived but the service standard was maintained, throughly good meal and enjoyable evening
