What a fantastic place! We sat on the balcony, there is fantastic view and you can choose if you want sun or shade. The service was 100%, I don't think they have dedicated waitress's for specific tables but each and everyone of the girls (4 of them served our table) were simply superb. The meal arrived (we had the hot seafood platter) and it was to die for. I did question the fact that we did not get the oysters and immediately they said they would get them sent out, I then realised I had made a mistake (the oysters were not in shells but had been cooked in batter) they were lovely. We will certainly return. Big thanks to the Buoy and Oyster for a lovely afternoon.

Had an incredible lunch here sat on the terrace with lovely views of the sea.Smoked Cod's Roe with vegetables was delicious, Oysters were great too, perfectly shucked.Enjoyed a few glasses of local wine, the English rose was my favourite.Trifle tart for dessert was the perfect end to the meal.Lovely staff and great service, can't wait to return

Restaurant looks good inside, modern and great views of the beach from the balcony at the back. Service was good and friendly.Food was quite pricey for what you get and the portion sizes. We ordered oysters and the fish and chips, both came very quickly. The oysters were served a bit warmer than I’d like but were okay. The fish and chips was average and not worth the price. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly, the chips however were over cooked and dry in the middle. Peas were a small part of the dish but no complaints on that.

Fantastic experience, overall. Waitress was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions for main course. We all had a great time sitting in the balcony. Food was also delicious. Will go again.

What an amazing birthday lunch! The food was so delicious (we had a hot seafood platter and the crab flatbread) but the service was the absolute highlight for me. Issy was such an attentive server, really friendly and helpful and the complimentary glass of prosecco for my birthday was truly appreciated. Best bloody Marys we've ever had too. Thank you for a memorable lunch!

I was looking forward to dining here as it gets booked out quickly. However, the food was average. I ordered a hot seafood platter but it's more lukewarm so went cold rather quickly, there was not much flavour on the clams and was not a fan of the scallops. However, the waitress was lovely, the food did come out quickly and the prawns were fresh.

I'd been to the restaurant today with my wife, after 1.5 hours of train from London. We want to visit the beach as the weather was amazing, but we were also exited about the fact of eat some fresh seafood for a place in front of the sea. When we arrive a waitress seat us in a table inside, and we asked another waitress if was possible to seat us outside. We were seat immediately outside for this waitress, which we didn't ask for her name, but she is the reason that this review have 3 stars. Very polite and attentive, very good service from her. We order Fish and chips, fried squid and seafood boil plate. The squid was overdue, hard and not taste at all, only for the "beer butter" which was not very good. My wife order the seafood. She said it was not fresh, not bad, but not in the level that we expected after read all the good reviews before we go and because coming from London, maybe we thought that a special restaurant in front of the sea would serve fresh fish. My fish and chips; The fish was nice, but again the "beer butter" just wasn't good. The fries wasn't cook enough. The service in general not bad, but we wait a lot for someone to came and clean the plates after we finish... This 3 stars is for the waitress who change our table quick and was professional and kind. Thank you! A few hours after we go out from the restaurant I start to feel bad, with my stomach hurting a lot. I'm sure it was this butter from the squid and the fish. We will came back to Margate, but not to The buoy and oyster.

We had such a lovely meal here with our toddler. We tried visiting last time we were in Margate and it was understandably fully booked so I made sure that we had a booking. I emailed in with an enquiry and promptly received an answer. We were lucky to get a terrace table but would have been happy inside as it's beautifully decorated. I was worried about eating in such a nice restaurant with our toddler in tow who was a bit cranky after a busy day. We were offered pencils and a colouring in sheet. All the waitresses were lovely but the Australian (?) waitress was amazing, really went above and beyond with the service. The food was amazing, I'd love to go back to try a different dish. Thanks for such a good experience!

It was clear the moment we walked in that staff were overly keen to serve us. Felt very rushed and baring in mind that the menu isn’t the norm felt I had to pick something double quick. Food came mega fast and the whole thing felt very rushed to get us out and next ones in. Food itself was nice, but not much of it for what it cost. Only extras you get is a glass of tap water and a wet wipe. This was a gift for my Husband’s Birthday, but both us were left feeling unfulfilled, hungry and had an upset stomach overnight. Was very disappointed as had been looking forward to it for weeks since we made the booking.

I had skate which was very tasty. My husband had fish and chips which he said was nothing special. I think the biggest niggle was the overpriced drinks. My husband was a little surprised when his £6 drink of beer arrived and he discovered it was only 330ml, this was not made clear on the menu. Perhaps we didn't read the menu properly but we are used to panna cotta being made with cream and not evaporated milk. Only little niggles, not enough to complain about if it wasn't for the premium price we were paying.

When you know it's local lobster season, are chomping at the bit to get there, and it's even better than you remember...! We were allocated the perfect corner table on the terrace, ready to be wowed by a stunning Margate sunset... I asked for a taste of one of the local wines, only to have Talis (the FoH manager?), bring us a sample of ALL FIVE... (my date was suitably impressed). Settling on the Biddenden Ortega, Rachel our waitress guided us through the menu, as we were finding it incredibly hard to decided (I mean the lobster was a given, as we had pre-ordered one on good advice). Scallops - yes (and man oh man were they they tastiest ever), dived in to the crab flat bread, which did not disappoint, reflecting the pics I had seen on line, and then, out of nowhere came a portion of the days ceviche.. Huh? Apparently Chef Craig had recognised me, heard that we couldn't decided on it, and sent it out as a treat (as this WAS a second date, I was clearly winning!). The lobster arrived, was devoured from claw to tail, accompanied by an order of the heritage tomatoes and burrata... so full, we couldn't finish the fries nor samphire that came with the lobster... No dessert (though I would have gone for the trifle tart for sure), so we finished with a margarita each, that I know the Buoy does so well (Geroge was on holidays, so Anais (?), stood in), again the perfect finish. Wow.... (a recent revamp of the interior just added to the whole thing). Keep it up guys - We'll be back sooner rather than later !

After having been to the chippy several times and being very impressed, we finally got a table at the restaurant. The food was very tasty and we were looked after very well by Evija.

We had a wonderful dinner on Friday night and were so impressed from start to finish. The restaurant is beautiful and we sat out on the terrace. Our waitress Paisley was brilliant, friendly, knowledgeable and really helpful. At a time when service can be really mixed, Paisley was brilliant. All our food was so fresh and delicious. We particularly loved the whole crab, seafood boil and the scallops but all was fabulous. We will definitely come again!
