Visited on Boxing Day for 3 course meal. 10 adults and 2 children. The carvery was absolutely disgusting, cold, undercooked, frozen potatoes, was offered a bottle of Prosecco as ‘compensation’, turned it down and was eventually after much complaining given a 25% discount. Will never go there again.

Failed to honour our booking -- we booked for the main menu for somebody's birthday, but they were only serving the festive menu. While I appreciate that it was 24 December, they shouldn't be advertising a menu which they don't intend to serve. Recommend phoning to confirm your booking on the day to avoid surprises.

I enjoyed the Smugglers Retreat Breakfast and came back during my holiday for the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The food was great and James, behind the bar, was welcoming and friendly.

Booked for a family lunch, on first impressions, it seemed like a good choice, very warm welcome from the staff, the place looked nice, food was OK typical Table Table but I have to add that the seats around our table were filthy and in need of a good clean as did the floor, one of the toilets in the ladies was full of paper and poo reason being the flusher was broken so really this toilet should have been locked and out of use.

Had the festive menu, it was very poor presentation, starter arrived with 5 macaroni bites on a plate, no garnish, main meal wasn’t much better, asked for gravy, when it was brought to me, it had a thick layer if orange oil on top. Absolutely disgusting. I was over charged in my bill for 2 desserts by £10. I did get a refund after I’d queried it after paying. I will never go back there again and wouldn’t recommend it.

Was staying in the hotel but was told we couldn't eat because they had a Christmas party in. So went to McDonalds instead later that evening we notice the Christmas party was for just 15 people and there was plenty of other tables that could of fitted 2 people.Found the girl quite rude. Also breakfast in the morning is not a buffet and you could be waiting 30 mins to get a cooked breakfast one of out guest waited 43 minutes.

Left waiting at door and then half an hour after order taken we were told when we asked when food was coming there was a table of 8 ordered before us, not really a response to be given, as it was between 4 and 5pm so not busy, was a bit taken aback at such a response. We will be returning in January and a few other dates so hoping it will be better next time.

A 2 day trip to Ramsgate and stopped at the smugglers inn for dinner. The reception and service we received from Kerry was second to none and the general banter we had as we ordered and received our meals, made it a lovely experience. Thank you Kerry

Whilst we were able to have Unlimited breakfast, which we had to order as table service, there were no croissants or pastries. So paid £9.99 for a cooked breakfast. Sausages were tiny, a small spoonful of beans, 2 small mushrooms quartered, really not worth the money.

Good food excellent service. Restaurant was extremely busy on my arrival. I was served by Kerri who was very attentive when serving me. Considering how busy the area she was working in she was engaging with all customers in the same manner. Food was good value and will return during my stay here.

Popped in for breakfast with 2 adults and 3 children. Food was replenished regularly on the buffet and my children especially enjoyed the pancakes. Value for money is phenomenal, it would have cost us more to cook the food at home!
