My wife and I are currently on a 2 month trip to Europe, which included a week in London. By way of explanation, we go to Europe each year for a month, for the past 18 years. The last time I was in London was 1965. On this current trip we visited at least a dozen of the most popular tourist sites in London and this is what I can tell you about my experience in the city of London England. From the cost of entry to the numerous sites, the cost of hotel accommodations, to the cost of food, they are all grossly over priced. Yes these attractions are historically beautiful, but given the huge lineups, the cost of entry, the organized crime (pick pocket thieves) that cruse the crowds targeting victims without fear of being caught , the lack of Uniform Police presence at and around these sites, the large number of homeless, transient men loitering 24/7 on Adelaide Street. For example on one day on Adelaide Street, there were two transient males involved in a fist fight while the others egged them on. I discreetly Photod this thinking if one of them gets stabbed , l will have a photo for the police. Another transient male with a thick Eastern European accent saw me do this and demanded I give him the photo or he would go to the Police. I told him good because that is exactly where l was going. He ran off and no police attended. The following day, as we walked down Adelaide Street, the Police and Paramedics were putting a dead body into a Body Bag. All of this made us feel uncomfortable in these surroundings FYI, My criticism is not without experience. On our first day in London, my wife's phone was stolen. We reported it to the Police and the case was closed almost immediately and I understand that. On the day before we left London, a pick pocket thief managed to open my "man purse" that was connected to my belt on my pants and steal $4115.00 cash from that purse. It truly bothered me that I unknowingly let a criminal get into my personal space and rob me without me realizing it before it was too late. Originally I wrote a trip advisor article about this experience in London. It was 6300 characters long and trip adviser asked me to break my review down into smaller more specific reviews which I am now painfully doing . After reporting this horrible loss, the Police sent me an email stating they had closed the case in a few short hours after the report was submitted due to the unlikely probability to solve it. Sweep it under the rug and forget about it FYI, I am a retired police officer with 37 years of service, on the streets of Toronto Canada. I ran a Major Crime Unit in the city core and I know of what I speak of. I have a wall in my den at home that is filled with Commendations for doing good Police work, not ignoring my sworn duty. In the city of London, the one thing that stood out to me, was the complete lack of Uniform Police presence in the known repetitive crime areas. Uniform presence is a deterrence for stopping repetitive crimes coupled with a game plan that includes Plainclothes presence and sting projects. The Police in London readily and openly admit that they are aware of this ongoing problem yet nothing is being done about it "Take the report, file it, close it"!!! THAT IS NOT POLICE WORK. I also noticed the huge number of foot patrol officers on the ground at the palace when there was the changing of the guard. Where did all of them go after that? That money I lost is not insured, but over time it can be replaced, the phone was old and of no real value, BUT the photos of our grand kids in that phone were priceless. This was suppose to be a great adventure and it turned into a nightmare. It is interesting to note that all of the "real Londoners", we spoke to and there were many, taxi drivers, people I in the service business and citizens, ALL ECHOED the same words "Today's London is Not the London we lived in before" In the near future I will try to do the other reviews that will tie into this London, shame on you. We had the most deliciously cooked meal here on Christmas Eve. Served our party of eleven with no waiting in-between courses All served hot with plenty of fresh vegetables. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.Sad to hear the owners are moving on but I wish them every success in their new venture in Hythe. Look forward to eating at their new establishment.

Called in here on Christmas Day for a drink, member of staff behind bar politely said there was only outside tables available. This was ok as we already noticed a packed room as we came in and said so. The member of staff then asked what we'd like to drink. I asked for Baileys, she asked "with ice", I replied yes but she just stood there - weird -asshe could be pouring my drink while my partner looked at the range of beers. Another member of staff standing to the side of the bar didn't seem interested in anything. A 3rd member of staff came along holding 2 x deserts and barked at us to take a table outside and someone would come and take our order. Needless to say we went outside and kept walking.

Lovely atmosphere, great food, good size portions, highly recommend, catered for vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian diners, accommodated a change of diners at last minute, all made to feel very welcome.

9 of us came here for Sunday lunch and was well catered for. Food was beautiful and who ever cooked the roast pork deserves a pay rise. We all had a great time and made our day very pleasant. Would love to go back but unfortunately live 2 and a half hours away.

We got here as it opened at Midday. Well presented, inviting interior. Service was also top notch, very friendly staff. We kept to simple pub grub which was exceptionally well done (burgers, fish and chips). Had one ale on draft which was local to the area and very tasty. Very glad to have discovered.

Such amazing bar staff. I dropped in here on a whim with my 11 week old baby in a sling because I was walking past and the roasts look great. I was told that there were no tables inside (everything booked up) and decided to sit outside. It was a really hot, muggy day, so after a while a more senior member of staff (possibly the landlady) spotted me there and asked if I'd prefer to sit inside and she could make space for me. She took me to a separate area of the pub, settled me on a sofa and then brought me an electric tower fan to cool me down! It was SO welcome. When she spotted my baby was awake she brought over some cushions so he could sit propped up while I cut up my food. The roast was excellent, too!

Stopped in for dinner last Sunday on the way home after a weekend away. Was busy, but managed to sort us out.Wow. Fantastic roast beef Sunday dinner. Washed down with a couple of pints of cider. The best end to a weekend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Definitely the better service of the pubs in the village. Good friendly staff. Nice food that has actually been cooked not just reheated. Good selection of drinks.
