A fabulous way to spend a sunday afternoon. Roast beef dinner followed by traditional pudding. Delicious! Staff very friendly and made us feel welcome. Well worth a visit and will definitely come again.

Went in for unplanned lunch. One of us had the Jacket potatoe with Chilli Con Carne, the other the Double Cheese burger with fries and Onion Rings, plus drinks.Family run business, it was definitely a locals pub, however, they were extremely helpful friendly and welcoming. I’ll return if I’m in the area again.Vegetarian options: They had a varied menu and the food portions were very generous.Kid-friendliness: Play area in rear garden

Tony and Jack arranged my Aunt's wake. We couldn't have asked for more. From initial enquiry right though to the end of the day nothing was too much. Catered for all dietary requests and the food was first class and plentiful. Thank you from all the family

A real 'Proper Pub'! We often end up here after a dog walk. There are some great walks around Halstead and this pub is a fantastic place to finish. A great selection of well kept beers and who can beat an accompanying packet of scampi fries?! Thanks - we'll be back again soon. (Such a shame Robbie had to close his shop - we miss buying his lovely eggs on our visit).

Mid Thursday afternoon visit and more than a few customers in. Very friendly greeting on arrival. Six real ales available with a good selection of local and further afield. One went off while we were there and changed fairly quickly. Those I had were in good condition.
Had a very warm welcome. Food was great and reasonably priced. Service was exceptional. The beer drinkers in our group were highly satisfied. A lovely visit.

four of us had lunch this afternoon. The food was excellent. The staff who served us were very attentive. Even the dog who was with us was attended too given a bowl of water and a dog biscuit. We give the pub 10/10
